I've only heard some of their songs on the radio. Some, I like.

The Mystery of Paul McCartney's Stolen 1961 Hofner Violin Bass guitar: www.hofner.com/lost-bassThe missing instrument is Paul McCartney's first bass guitar, a 1961 Höfner model 500/1, seen here. Paul McCartney playing the now lost bass in January 1969 during the Let It Be sessions (notice the absence of the white pearloid pickguard (see above photos), which was removed in (I believe) 1964 when the guitar was refurbished). The guitar is briefly seen at Apple HQ, Savile Row, in January 1969 in the recent Get Back documentary film, and then disappears. From Wikipedia:McCartney eventually acquired two basses of this model: his original 1961 model, and a 1963 model. Afterward, McCartney mainly played the 1963 model, leaving the original as a backup. In 1964, he had his 1961 model refinished in sunburst and had a new updated pickup surround system installed around the original pickups, as one of the plastic original surrounds had snapped (the one nearest the neck). He can be seen using this bass in the "Revolution" promo video with the strap attached to the headstock instead of the neck heel, presumably to counteract the instrument's neck dive, which is caused by its light body. [see videos below] He continued to regularly use the violin bass until 1965 when he switched to a Rickenbacker 4001S; afterwards, he would rotate between the two. On 30 January, 1969 the Höfner Bass made its last Beatle appearance at the Apple rooftop concert. [see photo below] Sometime during the recording of Let It Be, the 1961 model was stolen from Abbey Road Studios closet, along with George Harrison's Gretsch Tennessean and Rickenbacker 360/12. McCartney switched to using his 1963 model for the remainder of the album. He switched back to the Rickenbacker for the recording of Abbey Road and he even used it with Wings and his solo career. In 1988, while recording the Flowers in the Dirt album, a collaboration with Elvis Costello led to a request from Costello for McCartney to bring the 500/1 back from retirement. As of 2018, he is still in possession of that 1963 bass, and regularly uses it for performances. His original 1961 Höfner bass remains at large, still on the run....... A little bit of the Beatle Hamburg experience I grew up with. My first Beatle album was "Something New The Beatles". This was on it. And here's the other German language song the Beatles recorded, "Sie Liebt Dich", that was only released as a single (this song was considered the B-side, "Komm, gib mir deine Hand" was the A-side), until eventually being included on the 1980 Rarities album put out by Capitol in the U.S., before getting its first cd release on Past Masters...... Why The Beatles’ Record Executives Were Unhappy With Ferris Bueller’s Day Off "We paid EMI a huge sum of money at the time --- I think it was $100,000. But [EMI execs] weren't happy, because the song was fucked with: Brass was added in the editing room because there was a brass band [in the film]. When you saw the band playing and you're hearing 'Twist and Shout,' it would've been weird if you didn't hear any brass, so they added it in. I don't know if the Beatles weren't happy, or if EMI wasn't happy, but somebody wasn't happy: You're not supposed to fuck with the music."www.cinemablend.com/news/1555989/why-the-beatles-record-executives-were-unhappy-with-ferris-buellers-day-off Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) SAVE FERRIS

I know Matthew Weiner paid a ridiculous amount for this.

Ready, Steady, GO! Initially, RSG! artists mimed but by late 1964 some performed live and the show switched to all-live performances in April 1965. It was noted for allowing artists to perform the full version of songs rather than short versions demanded by other shows. The programme was never broadcast in the United States, perhaps because it was in black and white when ABC, CBS and NBC were converting to full colour.
RSG was originally from Studio 9 in Kingsway when artists mimed; it later moved to Studio 5 at Wembley, enabling artists to perform live. Artists' own recorded backing tracks were not allowed by the Musicians' Union so the whole of Studio 5 (normally divided into 5a and 5b) was used so an orchestra could perform the backing live.
