I thought this movie was a very realistic look at how dumb young kids can be. And what happens when an otherwise intelligent young woman thinks she can party (sex, drugs, and alchohol) endlessly with no consequences.
It was supposed to portray how society and law enforcement treats white people differently than people of color. But I think it failed at that. The white girl had no arrestable offenses. Her latino boyfriend had two before they met.
Inspite of her dumb decisions, she (supposedly) learned before too late to fly straight. Although her latino boyfriend, inspite of having two arrest already, decided to continue selling drugs illegally.
The system may treat white people differently than people of color. But this movie didn't show it.
And I don't see why he was arrested at the end of the movie. It was clear self defense. Even if he was on probation, people can still defend themselves from imminent harm. People of color get off on self-defense all the time.
Did you see it?
What do you think?

I’ve seen the title while scrolling thru Netflix but never knew what it was about and based on title alone I assumed I wouldn’t enjoy it. But now I’m curious.

Seemed like one of those wannabe-shocking moral guardian "kids these days" flicks made for people wagging their finger with one hand and furiously maturating with the other. You know, the same genre that brought us Thirteen, Havoc, Cuties, Spring Breakers, etc. So I skipped it.
Reading your review (you say it failed at its point yet gave it a 10/10?), sounds like I wasn't too far off. I hate these movies. Reefer Madness with T&A.

Found it both realistic and entertaining. LATER after seeing it, I read reviews and found out the writer based it on her personal experience. And she wanted to make a point about how differently the law treats people based on race. I don't think it made that point. But I still found it realistic and entertaining. I have no criticisms of the movie. Everything was good. (I didn't know of the writer's intentions while I was watching it.) A lot of these social justice warriors are stupid. They see things that aren't there. MAYBE this is an example of that. Hopefully kids (teenagers) of all colors and races will watch it a think, "Well, I ain't gonna do that."

Like let's all get crazy and stupid. It's got a message. The message I got was, "Don't be a stupid irresponsible hedonist. There are real world consequences."
