Battlefield Earth is bad but I would not put it as his worst film. The Poison Rose is his worst film in my opinion. That and Gotti. Battlefield Earth is a bad adaptation sure but it's not like the original novel was good either. L Ron Hubbard was a hack that wrote corny Sci-Fi novels.

It's not only the quality of some of his recent films, it's more his attitude. Just like Willis he often looks like he would rather be somewhere else. There's good news on the horizon though: He would like to return for Adam Wingard's planned Face/Off sequel, but they say he wants to read the script first. I agree in part, but he definitely puts in more effort than Willis. My reason for making this thread is because I watched Speed Kills (2018) and he actually elevates the movie quite a bit with his dedicated performance. It is a terrible movie, but he is definitely putting in effort.

Like any movie rating website, RT sucks ass. It doesnt reflect quality.
Having said that, Travolta off lately has been starring in a lot crap. He's a terrific actor and is far better than this.
I'm kinda surprised big name directors are not working with him. He's still a recognizable name who can handle character driven roles with ease.
I thought he gave a solid performance in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

I didnt think Gotti was that bad it needed a better director for sure.

Yeah. His career has been full of ups and downs. Mostly downs. His 80s career didn't really produce anything as memorable as Grease or Saturday Night Fever, he made a huge comeback with Pulp Fiction, then by 2000 he went back to making mostly terrible, forgetable films again. Face/Off was a good one. But other than that, yeah I agree.

I assume Carrie and The Thin Red Line are being ignored because they aren't "John Travolta" movies.

I'm very fond of Grease, however, and also enjoy Saturday Night Fever. I'd actually forgotten he was in Carrie. That's a brilliant SK adaptation.
