The former Rugby League player who caught a lot of people's imagination when he moved to America to "pursue his lifelong dream" and ended up playing a season for the San Francisco 49ers has been convicted of the sexual assault of a woman he'd referred to as a "silly young cow."
The crime occurred in 2018. The prosecution argued that Hayne had felt entitled to sex with the woman after giving up the chance to watch the NRL Grand Final with his mates to spend the night with her. The defence and prosecution both argued the woman firmly said she wasn't interested in sex after learning he had a taxi waiting outside his house. Hayne claims the woman did consent to giving him a blowjob.
It was Hayne's second trial after the first ended in a jury deadlock. He was found guilty of two charges of sexual assault, but was acquitted of the more serious crime of attempted rape.
Hayne could receive up to 14 years jail as a result of the conviction.

What a gentleman! He gives up the chance to watch his favorite program, and he even had a ride ready for her once she'd done her duty. Who says chivalry is dead?
