I personally think they are. People STILL treat these movies like they are some of the greatest films in cinema history when they were mediocre at best.
Talk about an extremely pretentious trilogy about comic book superhero that dresses like a bat, drives a batmobile and fights crime that took the source material WAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

People STILL treat these movies like they are some of the greatest films in cinema history TDK was certainly hyped up as such back in the day, and itβs still considered one of the best CBMs ever made, but as a whole, I donβt get the impression that the trilogy is that highly regarded among film circles.

No, but it's DEFINITELY still VERY REGARDED among geek and comic book circles and ESPECIALLY the Batman fandom and community and many Batman fans STILL HAVEN'T gotten the memo that The Dark Knight Trilogy and Christopher Nolan's portrayal of Batman WASN'T ALL THAT.

The Dark Knight is the best superhero movie of all time and likely always will be so I'd say no.

I still love Batman Begins. The other two are slightly better than that the Ant-Man movies. I guess it depends what floats your boat.

Those boats in the third act of Dark Knight would have definitely exploded if a certain somebody had been directing. Probably as a direct result of Batman. What I'm trying to say is they get the basics right at least.

Some people just can't accept that their rare opinions of disliking certain films is actually under-rated when compared to the love the large fan-base actually has for the trilogy of films, because they are actually some of the best comic book films ever made.

Nolan's trilogy was not pretentious , it was pretty mainstream

I think this applies to most people, most people can`t accept that people have a different opinion on a movie than them.

I think The Dark Knight Rises is massively overrated. It's the only one that doesn't stand alone. Anne Hathaway was bad casting as Catwoman.. it should have been Marion Cotillard who was underused as Talia al Ghu who herself was an unnecessary connection to the first movie. And don't even get me started on Joseph Gordon Levitt who dealt with the worst writing in the entire trilogy. That "I saw it in your eyes that you're Batman" stuff was so stupid it made me cringe. Also wasn't a fan of Bane and the story seemed unnecessarily complicated. The realistic depiction of the Lazarus Pit was pretty damn genius though. I did love that.
I also believe that Heath Ledger's Joker overshadows his own film and the greatness of Batman Begins. Meaning I believe BB is the better comic book movie. So I do think TDK is slightly overrated but for the most part it's quite an amazing film. But Batman Begins didn't need Ledger's Joker to be an awesome comic book film. TDK without Ledger's Joker is just a somewhat decent crime movie.

I don't know. But I haven't seen the last one in full and don't feel the need to. It came out the same year as Avengers 1 and seemed a lot less "fun" by then. In contrast, I remember the TDK hype, the viral marketing was something else with the ARGs, and I was super shocked when Ledger died. Then Spider-Man 3 came out the year after TDK, or was it the same year, and seemed a lot less 'fun" or just too "cheesy", so I've never watched it in full either. What goes around comes around.

They are among some of the best movies of the 2000's, and The Dark Knight was IMO the best picture of its year. Sometimes the hype IS appropriate. But we can agree to disagree.

Yeah it's overrated. It's a great series but it's not that great. I'd rate the Raimi Spiderman trilogy and Captain America trilogies higher. The Avengers series completely blows it out of the water.
I think the reason it's viewed in such high regard is because it did something very different from other comicbook movies at that time. If those movies came out today they'd be considered good but not at the top. BB is the best of the bunch and is the only one that is accurately rated imo.
Of course, actually getting fans to agree with my assessment is nearly impossible. Now watch as I get hit by a bunch of spitefull comments.

I love the first 2 movies. But as a trilogy I think the tone and style is pretty inconsistent from film to film. And I don't like the Batman arc overall due to TDKR (I do like a lot of things about that movie though)

Comparing it to Avengers is unfair, you're dealing with a team of heroes there. Captain America is pretty good (maybe just under or equal to the dark knight). Raimi, no

Just make Bane the ultimate villain. Movie aint big enough for both. One or the other. Robin was completely unnecessary Talia would have a better effect maybe in a 4th or 5th film and it doesnt have to be a twist either. Nolan tried to replicate the twist of Ra's but failed. Also for Batman already to be a legacy and have a statue is way too rushed. Hate to say this but this element reminds me of some of the stupidity of BvS. Robin too
