My favorite film company name isn't real, but rather a creation of Art Hoppe, who was a political satirical columnist for the SF Chronicle.
Miracle Productions ... "If it's a good production, it's a Miracle."

On a Mystery Cruise I attended, the fictional studio boss's company was called 'Monotone Pictures' (and yep, he was the eventual victim).

Eagle-Lion: rather puzzling till one learns the origin of the company's name.
Sono Art-World Wide: now that's a mouthful. A whole lotta words for a small outfit.

"If it's a good production, it's a Miracle." There was in fact a company with that name and slogan during the 1980s (or else called Miracle Pictures, I forget which). Their logo used to be on YouTube, now I can't find it. It seems to have first been used as a joke in a 1930s Popeye cartoon.

Caretaker Films ... Just one, but a significant credit, and an interesting inception. The Caretaker (1963) based on Harold Pinter's play of the same name. The film production company was formed by a partnership of six people, none of whom took payment, Director Clive Donner, Alan Bates & Robert Shaw actors, Writer Harold Pinter and Michael Birkett. Such was their faith in the film, all six members volunteered to forego any payments until it went into profit. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, Leslie Caron and Peter Hall, Peter Sellers , Harry Saltzman and Noel Coward were among those who helped provide financial backing.

Southern International Productions Was an Australian film production company established in the 1950s by Lee Robinson and Chips Rafferty. For a few years it was the most prolific film production company in Australia, which also pioneered international co-productions with France, (Walk Into Paradise,1956), folded in 1959

I would like to add to my list National Coal Board Film Unit - Recently bought a DVD set with some of their films GPO Film Unit - Their output is on DVD! Shell Film Unit - They gave the world "The Back of Beyond", so they must be good! Crown Film Unit - Did some nice stuff Realist Film Unit Australian Commonwealth Film Unit - A maker of non-fiction short films. I like watching their efforts. Colonial Film Unit - I'll be watching one of their efforts soon ....and any other company with "Film Unit" as part of their name. I did a search of IMDb, and found some more "Film Unit" companies, this bringing some more joy to my tiny stone heart: RAF Film UnitArmy Film UnitFord Film Unit Nucleus Film Unit Esso Film Unit - Why not, Shell and BP made films, so why shouldn't Esso join in the fun! Strand Film UnitBarua Film UnitAims of Industry Film Unit Horizon Film UnitJamaica Film Unit Ottawa Film Unit Malayan Film UnitSudan Film UnitBBC Northern Film Unit - Morning in the Streets is an excellent documentary!! Nigerian Film Unit Playcraft Film Unit Kamera Film UnitFederal Film UnitGhana Film Unit CSIRO Film Unit - OK, this is getting silly. The CSIRO had a film unit? ....along with various other "Film Unit" names. I love names with "Film Unit" in them! They rock! It's possible a lot of these companies did other films not listed on IMDb. For example, I know for certain that many short non-fiction films by National Coal Board Film Unit and Australian Commonwealth Film Unit are not on IMDb (some of these can be viewed on YouTube or on DVD). I also love the name Official Films which was a notable TV show distributer, and I also rather like the name of National Telefilm Associates, another TV show distributer. EDIT: I also love the name Basic Films, for which I watched one of their efforts yesterday. It was indeed quite basic!!

may interest you Mr. Dacron ?
Waterside Workers Federation Film Unit The Australian production Company made 14 short films from 1946 -1981 highlighting different social, cultural and worker issues of the times, Australian actor Leonard Teale features as narrator in six of the films. will take some hunting down... Available in an excellent! Collection Box set of Iven's films is the first and most accomplished film produced by the unit Indonesia Calling (1946). Dutch born International Director Joris Ivens was commissioned for the film, which gives a glimpse of immediate post-World War II Sydney. The focus of the film is the trade union seamen and waterside workers who refused to service Dutch ships (known as the "Black Armada") because these colonist ships contained arms and ammunition destined for Indonesia to suppress the country's independence movement. Peter Finch narrates.

Cool! I think I once came across one or two of their films on IMDb, didn't realise they had done 14 of them.

Fortunafilm and Gustaf Unger Films a joint bussiness that produced Sweden's only foray into giant monsters horror movies genre (Gustaf Unger as it became known later was a con artist who dissappeared with many bills unpayed for, one of the cons was that he had already sold the rights to Paramount and once the movie is finished they will pay all the bills). Rymdinvasion i Lappland 1959 aka Invasion of the Animal People aka Terror in the Midnight Sun aka Horror in the Midnight Sun aka Space Invasion from Lapland aka Space Invasion of Lapland, no matter what they called it, it seam like "fortuna" was not with this movie since it's on many worst movies ever lists.
Saga Studio/Saga Films from Denmark, a fairly successfull producer of folksy comedies 1936 - 1974, but amongst those movies is the dark memory of Denmark's first and last monster movie known as Reptilicus 1961, written, produced and directed by Sidney W. Pink (of The Angry Red Planet fame). This movie is also one of those movies often featured on worst movies ever lists. Though unlike the Swedish monster movie, Pink managed to sell Reptilicus to Samuel Z. Arkoff at American International Pictures.

Over at the Australian Screen online there are brief clips and info on some of the films produced by Waterside Workers Federation Film Unit The films are individually listed over at IMDb but none except for Indonesia Calling have more than 5 votes. Just ordered a copy of Fighting Films from, The Maritime Union, (MUA) online shop "A set of 3 DVDs Fighting Films brings together the work of the union’s celebrated 1950s union film unit – Keith Gow, Jock Levy and Norma Disher – best known for The Hungry Miles"
