We had a 10:30 appointment, and had to check-in at 10:15, which we did. Only two people ahead of us. Then we got on a line to get the vaccine. Only five people ahead of us.
And then . . . nothing.
It turns out they usually have two people administering vaccines, but one didn't show; and then the iPad with the . . . whatever they do . . . malfunctioned twice. Long story short, we waited 45 minutes on that line, but after they started again, things picked up.
When we left, the line to check-in was wrapped around, and the vaccine line was longer too.
All in all, it could have been worse. Just glad we're both vaccinated now.
Drinking a ton of water, and before bedtime, have to take Tylenol.

Awesome! I hope you have minimum side effects. The second one made me really fatigued.

Awesome! I hope you have minimum side effects. The second one made me really fatigued. Keeping fingers crossed. Pharmacists told me that I would feel very fatigued tomorrow and possibly run a fever. Oh goody. I can't wait. LOL! Did you have anything with the first dose? I felt really tired the next day, but that was it.

My husband, on the other hand, said his arm hurt!

Was the pain as bad as the shingles shot?
Keep us posted on the side effects.
I just registered for my first dose and truth be told, I'm really nervous because for the past 10 days or so I've been extremely exhausted, and I don't know if that's indicative of something that would be contraindicated for getting the vaccine. I'm going to shoot off an email to my doctor's patient portal tomorrow. I'm sleeping constantly, and if these vaccines are going to make me even more fatigued, I've got nowhere else to go on that level.

I had a bad week prior to the first one pain-wise, but don't believe there was any correlation. I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow. They said the day after you get the second one you feel it more. Regardless, do check with your doctor. Unless you have any allergies that would prevent you, it's probably a good idea to get it.

Regardless, do check with your doctor. Unless you have any allergies that would prevent you, it's probably a good idea to get it. When I filled out the questionnaire, they state, "do not get if you are allergic to any ingredients in the vaccine." Well, d'uh. Ya think? Then there's this list that they go through to check, asking if I'm allergic to things like neosporin (YES, violently), polysorbate (no) and then proceeds to ask about things like latex (YES), shellfish (no) and a few other chemicals that I didn't recognize, and there was a space for me to list what additional allergies I had (and if I'm typing this in online, whose to say if any of those allergies might be a problem because once or twice or thrice removed they're related to some distant cousin of a vaccine ingredient?) It also asked me if I was immunocompromised or had other health concerns (and again, it's me writing in that I'm treated for HBP). Not sure if any of this sounds like red flags for getting a vaccine. I always get every vaccine yearly when they're due and, they ask, if I've ever had any anaphylactic reaction to any vaccination (NO) - never. This is just making me edgy.

The more the merrier! The vaccine rollout seems to be going swimmingly in the US. My cousin and her family in Los Angeles are both in their early 40s and have already gotten their first dose. Meanwhile, over on this side of the Atlantic, we're still waiting for the folks to be given their first dose. Mum is well into her 70s and hasn't even been given a date yet. Dad is due to get the vaccine either on Easter Saturday or Sunday. I expect it could be a while before I get some of that sweet, sweet medicine. I will admit that even though I'm very much pro-vaccine, I am somewhat wary of the Astrazeneca. As far as side effects are concerned, I don't mind fatigue but I pray I don't end up with a fever. I loathe fevers.

No one I know who has gotten the vaccine to date has experienced anything worse than fatigue as a side effect. That and a sore arm. They all got the Pfizer or Moderna shots. That said, I'm a little nervous about it myself, but it's far safer than the godforsaken Covid virus.

I loathe fevers. It's hit or miss in the US. Still, even though I'm in a high risk group, cannot get an appointment in NJ! It's horrible here!! We had to go to NY. When we were on like waiting to get jabbed, the woman in front of us said how bad it was in NY. I said, really? We had no problem making an appointment in NY. Jersey isn't handling it well, and they are opening it up to more people, so this should be a real cluster-fuck. Yes, I've heard of "issues" with the AstraZenica vaccine, and I'd want more information on it before committing. Just glad this is over. I hope your experience is okay.

When I filled out the form to get my vaccine, you had to agree to get whatever vaccine they gave you, and they listed all of them. I feel like if I get there, ask, and it's AstraZeneca that I'd just say, "no thank you" and walk away. Nothing is ever 100% safe, and of course I know that. I think because we're talking about a global pandemic that's killed and hospitalized so many people, and it's something that's made such an impact on our lives, perhaps some folks are just a little more nervous than compared to a regular vaccination.

Pinky, congrats on having your second shot. I've had my first (Moderna), but my second won't be until Apr. 19.
I'm the only one of my housemates to have Moderna. Both my husband and my sister have had their first shots (Thank G*d), but they've both had Pfizer. My sister had no side effects at all; my husband slept most of the afternoon after his shot and had some mild queasiness; I had some fatigue, soreness and a slight rash at the injection site, slight queasiness, and a spike of low-grade fever.
Given all that, I can't say I'm looking forward with great joy to Shot #2, but hey--it's gotta be miles better than actually contracting COVID-19, right? I will be so relieved when all three of us have had our second Fauci Ouchies. Even though we'll still be wearing masks, practicing social distancing, etc., I'll feel a lot better and freer emotionally.

Hope you have the same luck. I was worried about the second shot. When I woke up the next day I was ecstatic! I felt so good. I couldn't believe it!

I'm glad you didn't have any really serious side effects. Most of the people I know got the AstraZeneca vaccine and a few got really sick - fever, fatigue, aches and pains. But then again, someone else I know got the Pfizer vaccine and was really sick too. I still haven't gotten it though I'm in the high risk group. They've run short of the Pfizer vaccine and I'm hesitant about getting the AstraZeneca one.
