Me, I would say THE WINGS OF EAGLES would be my choice.

Me, I would say THE WINGS OF EAGLES would be my choice. I liked The Wings Of Eagles. Good performance by the Duke. MAD Magazine satirized "Cheyenne Autumn" as "Cheyenne Awful." I think I agree.

Two Rode Together (1961) John Ford himself declared it... "the worst piece of crap I've made in twenty years." Ford hated the material, believing he had done a far better treatment of the theme in The Searchers... Personally I never got past the drunken ramblings on horseback, from memory it may have been the opening scene...
The movie was a critical and commercial Ford failure which was largely blamed on an uninteresting dreary script and on two main leads who were considered miscast, James Stewart, at 53, and Richard Widmark, at 45, were both much older than their characters.

Did you see the version with James Stewart and the wild townsmen going after the Cheyenne? Truly bad. I think Spielberg based scenes in Sugarland Express and Jaws on it. Both Cheyenne Autumn and Two Rode Together have important ideas but there's no pacing or flow and the humor is forced and, well, unhumorous.

I have not seen every film Ford ever made but in my opinion Mary of Scotland was just plain dull. Despite the great performers, it was so boring I could hardly get through the whole film. And I thought Sargent Rutland was pretty stupid. I would put The Long Grey Line in the boring category as well.

Haven't seen every Ford film, but I think it might be tough to top When Willie Comes Marching Home. What a can of corn

It's one of my favorite movies, and IMHO, Tyrone Power's very best performance. That he didn't get an Oscar nod is, to me, absolutely criminal!

Hehe, I didn’t mind that one. I’m not a big fan of The Quiet Man or How Green Was My Valley, but I don’t think they’re terrible on a technical level. I didn’t think much of Rio Grande either.

DONOVAN'S REEF is an effort that is unworthy of its cast and director -- just a brawling and drinking macho mess.

I haven't seen all of Ford's filmography but of the ones I have, I have to second Mary of Scotland. I'm not much of a Hepburn fan though to be honest.

It was so long ago and I remember more of the MAD Magazine satire, which was more entertaining than the movie.

Tobacco Road (1941) may have been a popular play. But, for me it is silly beyond words.

He's no great favourite but I don't think he was ever directed a worthless film... I'd probably go for MARY OF SCOTLAND or WINGS OF EAGLES or THE LONG GRAY LINE ("the longest and grayest film I have ever seen" La Kael)
Curious about SEX HYGEINE from 1942 - a 30 minute "army training film" - I'm guessing Ward Bond runs the clap clinic....Anyone recommend it?
Oh here it is - My gift to you all! No Ward Bond but George Reeves is featured
