Just saw this for the first time and really liked it a lot. Apparently it's a highly fictionalized account only very loosely based on a true story.

I haven’t seen it in years. My father in law who served in Vietnam in the Air Force enjoyed it a lot though. He also liked Robin Williams a lot so I’m sure that helped.
