French with English subtitles. Powerful story written and directed by Louis Malle about Jewish boys hidden in a French Catholic school during the war. It focuses mainly on two boys; one a privileged French Catholic boy, and a Jewish boy hiding from the Germans. Although very understated in its telling, it slowly builds toward the climax. Very poignant and not soon to be forgotten. Each time I view this, it stays with me for days. 10/10

Possibly my favourite film of the 1980s. Devastating.

Deserves a look. I was shown this in French elementary school.

A slow burn that you have to be patient with. The first half of the movie is kind of dull, but in the 2nd half, things get much more interesting. It’s a solid 7/10 overall for me.
