From Siskel and Ebert's worst films of 1987 - - which are the worst to you?

97? You mean 87?
Out of the picks from the list of 1987 films, at least of those I have seen. I would have to say: None.
Over the Top, Burglar, The Secret of My Success and Beverly Hills Cop 2, are all very enjoyable and fun films, all rated somewhere between 6, 7 and 8 out of 10, and surely not the kind of movies I would have ever thought of, as "worst movies of the year" releases.
Have not seen Like Father, Like Son, Ishtar, Leonard, Part 6 or Critical Condition. So I cannot say those are any good or bad.
Anyway, for some absolute god awful stinkers, from that year. I believe these are far more worthy:
Twister's Revenge! Hawken’s Breed Teen Wolf Too Hello Again Zombie Nightmare Hunk

I'm going to go with Lost Highway here
Another convoluted confusing boring David Lynch stinkfest that Lynch fanboys clamor over that has reached a bit of 'Cult' status these days
'Well why does every movie have to make sense and be tied up in a bow for you!' they'll proclaim 'Well you just don't get Lynch! Why does everything need to be explained and have answers!' they'll proclaim 'That's the beauty of Lynch! The answers are out there you just have to search for them!' they'll proclaim
If you're sole intent of life is to be tortured - give this a watch - it was Mulholland Drive before Mulholland Drive for me
I made it about 1/2 way through - so if that's not a fair assessment - understood - I couldn't take the pain any longer

As bad as Ishtar is, it looks like Bridge on the River Kwai compared to Leonard, Part 6.

Actually, all of them. For late 90s films they look all quite out-dated and like from the 80s.

Only saw BH Cop 2, which wasn't awful.
Siskel & Ebert kept me from bothering with really bad movies.
My 3/10s for 1987:
Fatal Attraction September Wall Street

Beverly Hills Cop 2 is just as good as 1, in my opinion. Don’t know why Siskel & Ebert would hate it so.

At least Siskel is consistent, as he didn’t like the first Beverly Hills Cop movie either. (Personally, I like both movies, but I don’t love them.) I don’t get Ebert, he loves the first one and hates the 2nd one. The 2 movies are not that different, in my opinion, despite having very different directors.

Just going through the wiki page for 1987 and found: Death Wish IV Garbage Pail Kids The Movie Jaws: The Revenge Lionheart (not the good Van Damme one) The Principal The Sicilian
Now three of those are guilty pleasures of mine (DW4, Jaws and The Principal) but not a one of them is objectively a better film than BHC2, The Secret of my Success, Critical condition or probably Over the Top either.

Gotta be honest, I caught it, along with 50 other so called "cult-classics", through a huge DVD-set, I bought on impulse, and when I got towards Hunk, I guess I had tired off having wasted so much time, on pure turds and terrible "comedies" and horror films, that I could no longer separate most of them. The only one, that really stood out, as good/great, were the terrific and chilling survival-thriller, Rituals aka The Creeper (1977), but I never managed to finish off the box-set, as there was just too much crap in there. Might give Hunk another go, but I doubt it will climb much higher up, on the rating scale.

Over the Top is amazing. How dare you/they! Hi, Greta. I've never seen "Over the Top", but if Greta says it's amazing, I'm inclined to agree. Siskel and Ebert are control freaks, so their lists of worst movies never consist of the worst movies, because those are the movies that glorify control freaks and neo Nazi ideology. I don't believe any of the worst movies of 1987 are on their list. The worst movies are pretty easy to identify-ANGEL HEART, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 DREAM WARRIORS

It's worth noting here that Siskel and Ebert only really chose movies for these lists that were semi-major releases and didn't really wanna pick on small, independent or cheap exploitation movies. Also, they could only include movies that they'd reviewed that year... was there another similar thread to this? I feel like I'd already posted that ...
Also... I have no idea what to make of the post above mine. That's some bizarre shit, and I feel like I don't get the joke. I have a feeling that it might be hilarious, but I'm also completely lost.
