Yeah Eurovision's a bit of a joke to us, we still dominate music globally and have a lot of cultural influence, despite our political stance. I guess the US begs to differ. What is Adele compared to Taylor Swift... Maybe I should have said, we share global music domination with the US, as we do . Adele is huge, not literally... but yeah she's on superstar level.

The reverse is a valid argument mind, all the same. Yes the two nations dominate.

Do you have Portuguese co-worker? I have, and she is so tiny that I couldn't hit her even if I wanted too, but her high pitched voice will be heard everywhere - as I had to learn last year.

I don't have co workers... I have employees.. I don't employ EU nationals..... (just kidding - i have polish and Irish)

This must have really hurt you. I'm not a big fan of either (I'm more the Ellie Goulding typo - I even saw her in Frankfurt). But everyone seems to hate her, Taylor, what is reason enough to like her (plus she likes cats and can count in German till ten), and loves Adele, what is at least obscure to me for imho she had only two good songs so far. But if it is some comfort to you: I have bought one of Adele's CDs. If I was serious, and a bit mean, I'd say: what is Adele compared to Kate Bush. And from Kate I have all albums I could get my hands on. Both British artist, but I reckon only one of them as really great, and this is Kate Bush. True, Adele is rather at the beginning of her career, and she might have the voice, but not the writing talent of Mrs. Bush. But this is my humble opinion, and I'm far of being an expert.

By the way - I truly know nothing about Swift, thats why I had to google. I have a soft spot for Adele as she is a londoner and down to earth even though I am not a fan of her music even though I respect her singing ability and she has deserved critical success. She is no one direction (ovely produced made for the market act)

Swift doesn't come close to Adele. That's like comparing Katie Perry to Aretha Franklin.

In regards to lyricists., my style is - Nick Cave, Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles(all of them) the who, muse, carl Barat, Pete Doherty, ash, the stone roses, the la's, the smashing pumpkins, new order, joy divison, Nivana , depeche mode, pet shop boys, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Barret, waters, funeral or a friend, placebo .etc
Female artists. I would have to say - yes Kate bush is legendary. But i would rate Kirsty Mcacall over her from that period, and maybe stevie knicks. On the other hand an example of a great song writer that sucks on lyrics would be Noel Gallagher . There are many that can make a cracking tune but just cannot form the poetry.
I haven't listened to enough of Adele or swift to comment on there ability - I have my doubts if i could relate to swift- however I do like many Country and western stuff - I just cant name you some greats - bar Dolly Parton. So maybe I could relate to swift - but she is a bit poppy for my tastes. However I am sure she is heavily influenced by the country scene - so Maybe i should give her more time of day.

I heard the German song and thought it was OK. Certainly deserved more than six points. Spain's entry was wretched! Deserved zero!
UKs entry was meh. 15th out of 26 was fair.
