Everyone knows the general details - the murders, the media storm, the 50 films and documentaries that followed... ;-D And then there was, of course, the huge innocence campaign. Bernie was its public face and main media proponent for close to 20 years. I was on his forum, I read the books he wrote, I found it all very interesting and waited for the new details he had. (Do you remember the media storm when he released the photos?) Well, a few years ago, Bernie suddenly goes silent and deletes the forum... then the site... and then he releases the final book. And his position is the complete opposite. Now he says he knows the killers have been caught and imprisoned, and he's sorry he had believed in their innocence and had helped them deceive the public for two decades. I still wonder what happened. Did he see some new evidence? Did someone admit something to him? (Whomes has just been released, by the way - www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-essex-55801318)Whenever there are such switches in innocence campaigns, there is always some drama behind the scenes. (For example, the Coleman murder, where the innocence campaign finally forced the local government to test the DNA... and then it showed that he was the killer, and 99% of the online support for him imploded within a week... Or, in the West Memphis murders, AFAICR there was a girl who had a site and hundreds of forum posts where she maintained their innocence... and then, suddenly, she deleted everything and went silent; it took a long time until she quietly revealed to someone that she finally met one of the killers face to face, happy to talk to him about their innocence, and instead he gave her details about the crime and admitted that they did it...) So, I wonder if there was any such thing about Bernie's change...?
