The 2003 film "Gacy" played like a dark comedy. But despite a compressed timeline it did get several of his victim's murders right. And facts about Gacy.
"Dear Mr. Gacy" about his final days with College student Jason Moss (who would go on to write a book) is well done.

As for "getting several of his victims' murders right:" In Gacy, they had the police on Gacy's trail, after the disappearance of the kid who was selling his car, when in reality, it was after the kid who disappeared from the pharmacy, that drew the police's attention on Gacy.

Well yeah... It's not a documentary... The ending shows them taking the bodies out in the middle of the night in Summer. In reality it was Christmas day with Snow. "Gacy" may have gotten some murder details right. But muddled other facts obviously. Drowning the victim & stuffing his underwear down his throat (& strangling him while taking a Phone call) "Are we having fun?" Was similar to something Gacy said. Taking the kid from the Pharmacy (who was going to meet his Mom in an hour. Saying he was gonna talk to a guy about a construction job.) Alluding to the other guys on his construction enterprise may have had a hand in some murders or disposals. "Do I have to tell them about you guys?" A survivor claimed seeing other guys. Picking up the boy from the Bus stop... & killing him because he had prepared Breakfast and was holding a knife absent-mindedly while Gacy woke up... Were all fairly accurate. I'm a bit surprised they went to such lengths to get those details mostly right. But not others.

If the guys that stayed at Gacy's home did in fact, participate in the murders, I am actually surprised Gacy didn't turn on them while he was in prison.

If I'm not mistaken, Gacy (2003) is a movie noted for showing mountains in the distance despite the fact that it takes place in the suburbs of Chicago. Funny little movie mistake.
There's a book about the case called Killer Clown. I read it many years ago and thought it was pretty good.

Yeah, sometimes you can tell a movie or even a TV show is not being filmed in the area where it supposedly takes place, simply from looking at the landscape.
