I still haven't seen the original, but I know it's well regarded. I guess getting Naomi Watts is sort of their good luck charm to try to make a well regarded remake of a well regarded foreign horror movie since it worked once before. |

She's pretty but I never thought she was much of an actress. What I mean is that she gets roles better than she deserves.

Watts was also in the Funny Games remake. The directors of Goodnight Mommy are said to be protégés of Haneke, so it would make sense for her to be cast.
However I loathed the original, I thought it was soulless torture-porn, so I have zero interest in the new version.
