This Sunday!
We got an expected shipment of this vaccine, (the last one got thrown out because for whatever reason, politics or whatever, it didn't get used on time), but now we've got J&J and the appointments are filling up fast, and there's going to be a massive crowd given the location.
I cancelled my appointment for later this month which was only 3 miles away (where I had to sign off for whatever vaccine they chose to give me), and now I'm going to be driving a number of hours each way just to get to this location and wait in line.
It also means I had to find a dog sitter.
I'm trying to look at this like an adventure. Truth is I feel safer getting this vaccine over the others, plus it's only one injection vs two, and I know 3 people who went to this site the last time J&J vaccines were given there, and they said it was very well-run, ambulances and nurses were on staff, and it seems safety measures were taken seriously, they were in and out in 45 minutes.

YAY!!!!! Congratulations on being one of The Vaccinated! Isn't is a great feeling knowing you won't have to worry about this any longer . . . or until you need the "booster" (probably be part of the seasonal flu vaccine).

I still can't believe I swapped out driving a few miles, to driving HOURS each way, plus traffic, plus waiting, just to get this vaccine. I did promise myself that if I had the opportunity to be guaranteed of getting the J&J vaccine, I'd totally go for it. Well, well, well,....here we are!

I've received the first of the Moderna, but perhaps I should have held out for the Johansson and Johansson.

There will be people who suffer adverse reactions, but they are a minute amount. Nausea and dizziness are common and not a huge concern; fainting can be caused by anything (didn't eat breakfast, hypoglycemic, etc.). The allergic reaction is of concern. I wouldn't sweat it.

I was concerned and wrote to my doctor, and he wrote back stating he preferred J&J because it's generally better tolerated, and he thinks I should be fine. Given he knows my history, and he has a preference for J&J as well, it's put my mind at ease. I've wanted this one all along, and the nerves just hit me today. When I read about the s/e, some of them sounded like panic attacks, like how some people react when they're around needles in general. Only 1 person ended up being hospitalized. I'll bring a snack, not taken analgesics beforehand, I have my friend with me on the drive so I won't be alone, bring plenty of water.....I think I've got my bases covered.

Despite what those administering the vaccine tell you, if you can hold off two days after receiving it to take an analgesic (and ONLY Tylenol [acetaminophen]), your body will do better in ramping up those little killer cells! I went three days, and couldn't wait to take a naproxen. Owie!

But I thought I could take something the day after the vaccine. You're suggesting a full 48 hours of nothing, and even then only Tylenol? (Or, that I can take only Tylenol the next day?)

Do Tylenol tomorrow - 24 hours after getting vaccine. Then see how you do. They usually tell you a couple hours after getting the vaccine.

I was supposed to get JJ but they switched me to Pfizer at the last minute. My kid got the JJ and had a terrible headache, fatigue, and high temp, for a day then all good. So far, no side effects at all from the Pfizer so I'm okay with it.

So far, no side effects at all from the Pfizer so I'm okay with it. Where I'm going, it's exclusively a J&J setup, so no chance of a switcharoo at the last minute. I'm just thankful not to be getting Moderna. Like I've said to Pinky, it seems like no matter what, I'll be hearing something negative, so I'm just going with it. I'll give y'all updates after tomorrow's adventures. It's going to be an afternoon affair.

I just talked to the lady next door, as she getting her 2nd shot today, and she's so jealous I'm getting the J&J! I told her where I'm going and she said her brother went to the same place when they did the J&J rollout last month, and they were so streamlined, they don't want you showing up more than 15 minutes early (they're THAT accurate) and he was in and out in 22 minutes including the time he waited.
She said he also didn't have any side effects.
This made me feel even better.
