He argued the cuts made to the theatrical release harmed the film. I hadn't seen the extended cut, are there at least establishing shots and proper scene transitions?

Oh, that old line. I give it an extra point because at least there are less plotholes (ie, the wheelchair being made of lead so Superman can't see the bomb and the Africans being incinerated to make it look like Superman did it) but this idea that the Extended version is some undiluted masterpiece is pure propaganda from fanboys who already loved the Theatrical and it sounds like he swallowed his own hype.
Argo fuck yourself, Terrio.

I mean, between that, Justice League, and later on, The Rise of Skywalker, maybe Terrio just wasn't as good as people thought he was.

I really liked it and think Affleck did a good job directing it, but think Best Picture ought to have gone to 12 Years a Slave.

Different years, and 12YAS actually did win for 2013. Of the nominees for 2012, I'd rank Argo over Zero Dark Thirty and Beasts, but that's about it. The early-mid 10s were the height of Hollywood fellating itself with cutesy movies about Hollywood.

It might not be fair to pin all the blame for that on Terrio. Interestingly, he also mentions that the initial draft of BvS (written by David Goyer) had Batman branding Lex Luthor at the end, which Terrio objected to. That was probably a good call on his part. Anyway, he might be better off sticking to smaller movies.

Crap you're right. I was thinking they came out the same year. Jesus Christ.

The Extended (or "Ultimate") cut of BVS is definitely a more cohesive, better paced film than the theatrical cut.
8/10

It's better than the theatrical cut but not by much, like for me BVS is 4-5/10 the EC is a 6/10 but thats it, even the "plotholes" aren't filled in properly, and major issues in the film remain, like oh great they burnt the bodies because a regular old flame thrower can mimic Superman's heat vision? bullshit, also wouldn't a flamethrower leave chemical residue behind compared to Superman's heat vision laser eye fucking beams?
Still has issues like Batman not acting like Batman, being a moron who was clearly led by the nose to fight Superman, the fight between the two being void of any of the history and meaning like in the comics, the transition between enemies to allies was poorly handled, Eisenberg's Lex still sucks a massive cock, Doomsday looks shit and the death of Superman angle again means nothing compared to the comics due to how they handled Superman and his status to the world in this very movie itself, making the whole world in mourning thing BS because half the fuckers hated Superman to begin with, they should be fucking partying the plebs.
It's a better version of the movie, but it's still not a good movie it's ok at best.

The extended cut of BvS helps fill some glaring plotholes but let's not kid ourselves, there are still five different movies crammed into one. And that's really the main issue IMO.

One thing thatโs worth pointing out that Terrio himself mentions is that out of all the movies heโs written the screenplay for, Argo and ZSJL are the only ones he has sole screenplay credit for. For BvS, he was brought in to polish up the draft that David Goyer wrote, and TRoS, he shared screenwriting credit with J.J. Abrams, and by all accounts, that movie had a completely chaotic production that doomed it from the start.

Batman v Superman was about three powerful, murdering, assholes who think the other two powerful, murdering, assholes need to be controlled or killed. You couldn't fix that garbage with 10 hours.

The Ultimate Edition is definitely better, but I'd still only give it a 6/10 after my most recent rewatch.

Much like with the Snyder Cut, it makes a nonsensical film.make more sense. It does not, however turn a bad movie into a good one.
