...Because Stallone is receiving a ton of hate on Twitter right now and Hollywood often bends the knee to cancel culture.

Sylvester Stallone has always been known to be a Republican, and he has associated with Donald Trump in the past, so I don’t see how this recent story is some surprising revelation. I assume that WB would only even consider recasting him if that’s what James Gunn wants. They wouldn’t want to piss him off.

Actually Stallone is more an independent than a Republican, he didn't know what a Republican really meant till after he played John Rambo and Reagan deemed the character as such. Stallone also did not vote for Trump and does not often vote in presidential elections. But naturally Twitter will ignore that.

Eh, I don’t think so. I think (at least *I* would think) that people will see the stupidity for what it is.

The fact that there's even talk of canceling him over such a non-issue shows just how toxic society has degenerated.

Twitter is just an extension of the web, which is an echo chamber of stupidity. Web articles cite other sourceless articles as sources and quote each other all the time. Articles use 'twitter' as some kind of reflection of society at large, while quoting five people. "Twitter was saying___" No, nine people on twitter were saying___ Hell, even if it was 300 people on twitter, think about that number as compared to the total number of twitter users. Maybe it's because I'm not on social media that I don't get fooled into thinking it matters what people on twitter are saying. This 'story' that I never knew existed is a couple days old now, so I'm assuming this has blown over, whatever it was about?

...Because Stallone is receiving a ton of hate on Twitter right now and Hollywood often bends the knee to cancel culture. Example? Do you really need an example of Hollywood bending the knee to Twitter mobs? There are several. But with Stallone in particular it was trending so much in the last couple days he decided to clarify the situation on their own social media.

Do you really need an example of Hollywood bending the knee to Twitter mobs? There are several. Yes please. A comparable one.

Do you really need an example of Hollywood bending the knee to Twitter mobs? There are several. Yes please. A comparable one. Comparable to this exact situation? In which case it was speculation(at the time) that Stallone could've been let go from voice duties for King Shark in The Suicide Squad based on a, now debunked, news report of him joining the Mar A Lago. But Hollywood does bend the knee quite often to Twitter mobs, we've seen comedians apologize for jokes they made decades ago, actors and writers let go from mainstream productions, and old content erased from streaming services.

Not that precise no. But I can't recall when someone is replaced in a role in a film not long from release, for something similar. The cost of doing that and the risk of counter-criticism, far outweighs the threat from a bunch of people who in all likelihood will still see the film, or had no real intention of seeing it anyway. I don't think Hollywood is that spineless.

Dare I even ask what Stallone is supposed to be cancelled for now?
Hope they don't recast. Half the reason I'm even thinking about watching is the cast.

He was 'cancelled' because there was a news story of him joining the Mar-A-Lago, a gulf club which is owned by Donald Trump. It was completely untrue, and Stallone took to Instagram to clarify that he had not joined the club.

Since the movie’s apparently picture locked, that seems to be a pretty good indication that they don’t plan on recasting King Shark.

Granted, picturing Sly Stallone golfing at all cracks me up, but I'm glad to hear he didn't actually get a membership at the stale cheeto demon's place.

Stallone has never been a particularly political person to begin with, he didn't even know what being a Republican actually meant till he saw Reagan claim John Rambo was one. He has never actually endorsed anyone for President, however, he doesn't see anything wrong if he did join the Mar-A-Lago, he just clarified he did not join.
