I don't mean the fanboys who rave about anything with Nolan's name attached. I mean REAL movie lovers.
Can a movie be too clever for its own good? Welcome to Tenet.
I mean, this was crap. No characters, just actors unloading shiteloads of exposition. And none of it made sense. I lost count of the number of times I shook my head, shouted "O, come on" at the screen, or just laughed at the ridiculousness of it all.
Extra points for Branagh's Russian accent and the novelty of seeing a leading lady who seemed a foot taller than the guys.
2/10

3 out of 4. It really does feel like a self-parody at times.

Wouldn't you just automatically call someone a Nolan fanboy if they said they really like Tenet? In this case you sort of have a point though, in that you almost have to be a huge fan of Christopher Nolan in order to like the movie. Of all his movies, he is making this almost specifically for his fanbase. Interestingly being his next project after his least Nolan-y movie, Dunkirk.
I like Tenet a lot, because I love Nolan's style and ambition to do something unique. Tenet is extremely entertaining, intense and has a lot of re-watch value.
It definitely isn't without it's problems, but as ambitious entertainment that doesn't care if the audience "gets it", it is very effective.
With that being said, Nolan needs to dial it back a notch for his next movie. Tenet is Nolan at his most Nolan-y and as some people have said, it almost reaches levels of self-parody. It is a fascinating movie nonetheless and I enjoyed it more the second time I watched it.
"don't try to understand it. Feel it."
8/10

I liked it enough to say I liked it, but it's one of Nolan's weaker movies. Even I admit I had trouble understanding the story/plot. It's better to just turn off the brain and enjoy the action and spectacle.
I'm not a hardcore fan of Nolan, but I've enjoyed a lot of his work and will likely see his latest movie if he puts one out. Give the guy credit for having some ambition for his work even if he doesn't always reach his goals.

Still haven't seen this one. I've enjoyed most of Nolan's movies although I wouldn't consider myself a "fanboy." I wasn't a huge fan of Inception which I suppose Tenet is closest to thematically. My favorite Nolan is movie is his least Nolanesque, which is Dunkirk.

I liked it, but it is a pretty stereotypically Nolan movie. The only thing it’s missing is the dead wife cliche. Hopefully for his next film, Nolan will go for something smaller.

Nobody I know liked Tenet. There are a lotta people who are pretending to love it for the sake of being intellectual contrarians. Its a bad movie on every conceivable level. Sterile cinematography. Inaudible dialogue. One note characters. Overly complex and contrived plot. Theres a reason why Tenet got no major nominations in a year where it had virtually no competition.
3/10
And for comparison I gave Interstellar and Dark Knight Rises 9/10 even though they got a lot of criticism, they are at least competently directed.

I loved it, yes.
I suppose I'm not a "REAL movie lover." Damn, I had always thought my love for movies was genuine.

I bought it about a month ago. Stopped watching around the 20 minute mark. I couldn't understand what anyone was saying. Life's too short.

I'll add a few more for good measure too... Innovative visuals, well-paced, ambitious, good performances all around, fun action, and more. "Are you now - or have you ever been - a fan of Tenet?" seems to be a new thing around here. Yawn.
