I'm a guy so this topic doesn't pertain to me. But I think it's great that Spitfire started the thread and that you ladies can talk about it with each other! Sonetimes there is nothing that can beat peer support. ♥️♥️♥️
I wonder if erectile dysfunction would be a semi-male equivalent? Probably not. I don't imagine there is anything good about ED unless, of course, the guy has a female partner who doesn't want sex. Lol
Anyway, I do feel compelled to tip my hat to the gender who has to deal with seven days (or so) of unpleasantness every month for about 35 years. I feel for you on that one. I cannot imagine.

I'm not going to lie, it's been horrible for me. Constant hot flashes with upper body sweating (about 20x a day), followed by being freezing cold. Have to shower often twice a day. I don't get night sweats where you wake up sweaty - maybe only once in a while if I'm under stress (or fall asleep wrapped up in blanket). However, if I wake up in middle of night a hot flash is common. Also forgetfulness if I don't do something right when I think of it. I got blood test at OBGYN in October that confirmed, but I don't want to take HRT for the obvious reasons. I take Evening Primrose Oil (which doesn't help, but more for Omega 6) plus vitamins and alot of D3. My best friends at this point are hand held and ceiling fans. [img style="max-width:100%;" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png" class="smile"] ^^ Sorry panther. Hope it improves soon. Mine is done but it was BAD. I took HRT for 2 years and it helped A LOT! But my doctor wanted me to stop. Then awful again. Years of the normal symptoms. Time cures the problem but that is of no help to those going through it. I liked the HRT . Beats all the symptoms.

I actually read this thread for 2 reasons: 1 spitfire who I adore started it And 2 I wondered what you would say about menopause, dirty pillows Lol Thanks for your support and yes, spitfire should get a big applause for tackling this issue. And all the people who posted. Dirty pillows, the best thing about getting old was the end of 'Aunt Flo' lol

Me and my wife are both 36 so we haven’t had this yet. Any chance we dodge this bullet or is it really inevitable? For the record, my mother never talked to me about this kind of thing.

I've never felt like it was something that shouldn't be talked about. It's just a natural thing, and not necessarily a bad thing. The old myth that a woman's sexuality stops when her ovaries do is just that, a myth! There's nothing about hell week that's sexy. But I appreciate your kind post.

Well, it's inevitable it will happen, but everyone's experience is different. My mom's wasn't bad, so I hope mine won't be either.

It will happen but there is such a wide variety of experiences. My friend had her last period and that was it. My aunt would break out in hot flashes dripping sweat. (Scary to me as a child of 7) Ask your mothers what they experienced. It may be a clue. My own experience was like my mom's.

I was on the pill when I went through it and no hot flashes but night sweats sometimes. I don't mind those, I've always had them from time to time
I was very emotional and cried easily
