I'd be remiss not to include the famous clip of Howie Long's death in Broken Arrow with the silly "Wilhelm" type scream.

He had some presence in the 90s. I know I’ve seen this film but don’t remember much. I’ve seen Broken Arrow a ton and he’s fine in it honestly. Yeah, that is easily his best role.

Between Broken Arrow, Firestorm, and 3000 Miles to Graceland, I'd also agree that Broken Arrow is Howie's best acting role and movie. IMDB Firestorm trivia: Fox chose Howie Long for the lead after several key executives were pleased with his performance in the studio's action film Broken Arrow (1996). IMDB Broken Arrow trivia: Howie Long's character was originally supposed to be killed off earlier in the picture, but when Fox execs saw the dailies and liked his performance, his role was quickly expanded so he could be in the whole movie. Howie Long did his own stunts in the film.

Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Firestorm (1998) - 1.5 out of 4 stars
"Wily con Forsythe and cohorts have pulled off a prison escape, incinerating a Canadian forest as their "cover." This makes the job of smoke jumpers (who parachute into difficult fires) all the more risky. By-the-numbers script is fashioned as an action vehicle for athlete Long, who suggests what Ed Harris might look like if he couldn't move his facial muscles."

That was one of my favorite movies when I was in middle school.

I'd be remiss not to include the famous clip of Howie Long's death in Broken Arrow with the silly "Wilhelm" type scream. Why does Slater take cover behind those crates only to knock them over? Surely he could've fired from behind the crates and maintained his cover?

BROKEN ARROW was certainly a good film, easily the best film Travolta ever appeared in. No sane person will ever deny that, of course. But while I like Howie in it, his character was clearly the least credibly motivated, in following a man who betrayed all his followers. He was too much like the idiots who work for Specter Blowhard, watching Blowhard kill all his own employees off and yet still working for him. Just never makes sense, although it looks like there are real people like that in the real world.
Trouble is, those people are people you expect to be doped up and not athletes. So when Howie's character is still in control of his own body, doing stunts, being athletic, it doesn't fit in with someone trusting a man who you can't trust. Would Howie play Football for a coach who shot each of his own players in the head after the player made a tackle?

If Brian Bosworth could get one, I don't see why not.

I remember seeing the trailer for that movie and thinking it looked badass. IIRC, it came out around the time of Hard Rain, which I also thought was badass. I never did end up watching the Howie Long movie, and when I saw Hard Rain years later, it...well, it didn't quite hold up.
