Had that on my watchlist for years, due to not being too easy picking up or finding a reasonable priced DVD copy, but hopefully it might get a new version out, maybe heading for Blu-ray format, if not already happened. Think I finally saw it back a few years, might be due to the October Challenge, but the picture and sound quality of the version uploaded on Youtube, sadly did the film not much justice. However, it did have a creepy atmosphere going, and one I am pretty sure, one would enjoy even more, with a second go, hopefully through a better quality as well. It was actually your recommendation which made me pick up a copy of this. It's the Spanish DVD, which hopefully comes with decent technical quality.

Ah, had totally forgotten about that, but then again, might have something to do with some discussion regarding the more famous Final Destination franhcise, where I believe Solar Survivor might have been one of the inspirations for the first film. Hope you get something positive out of watching it. I usually rarely go for spanish DVD/Blu-ray releases, which sometimes makes me think I end up overlooking a potential great watch, but often it seems that there is so many angry customers, who claim certain releases say they come with english language and subtitles options, but that it turns out to be a lie. Then there is many who is frustrated with picture and sound quality, so I tend to go for German releases or hard to find 80s and 90s films, as they have yet to disappoint me, and even often there is english subtitles, even if they are not mentioned on the release. But yeah, I sure hope your DVD copy is one of the better, as I might just try to hunt it down for myself some day.

I could not help but notice that you also pick up quite a few German releases. Only thing that bugs me, is that awful looking FSK 18 sticker on the front artwork, specially if it is not something you can get rid of, without damaging the original artwork itself. However, a few of the latest German Blu-rays I have gotten, do come with an reversable alternative artwork, that does not have that annoying sticker.

Well, I'm actually from Germany, so I try to buy what's available in German, even though sometimes even 18-rated films are cut here and occasionally the German releases lack the extras of the US or UK releases like audio commentaries or making-ofs.

I guess that makes good sense . Have been wondering about finally jumping onto the German media book of The Hitcher (1986), as I am getting a bit worn down, by what seems to be taking a lifetime, until the upcoming Second Sight Blu-ray release of The Hitcher might eventually be released, and as of this moment, I guess there is not much other option to go from, at least right now. Have done lots of good picks up, of hard to find or films that sadly only is put out on American and Canadian Blu-ray releases, specially a lot of Shout! and Scream Factory, which I really want, but not so much, that I have to purchase a whole new Blu-ray player, only to work with 2-3 films, out of hundreds or more.

Wow, that's a lot of titles! Looks like you got your work cut out for you. Happy viewing! Thanks. Have already been through quite a lot, and sadly a few too many disappointing ones, like last night with Undercover Blues (1993), which I thought was shockingly unfunny and at times felt like a cheap and lousy Hudson Hawk meets True Lies, but just without the fun and charm. Shame, because I really do like Kathleen Turner and most of her other early 90s films, so looked forward to see if this might be added onto the list. But no, this was another impulsive blunder from my part. But well, we cannot win every time. And I had a few pleasant surprises, like Zoone Trooper (1984) or Edge of Sanity, Tammy and the T-Rex and The Seventh Curse has all been lots of fun. I usually tend to do my last time movie and music shopping in late fall, but it seems a lot of people had problems getting their orders in time, before Christmas, and only a few left, that still has not arrived. But yeah, I thankfully got most of them, and hopefully have lots of unseen gems waiting for me. Looking forward to those two Bronson 70s releases, specially Cold Sweat, that looks pretty awesome.

I thought Cold Sweat was just OK, but you might like it better than I did. I saw White Buffalo a long time ago but I just can't remember much about it. It's on Tubi so I'll be re-watching that one over the weekend. Murder By Decree is a superlative Sherlock Holmes movie that combines the Jack The Ripper case. Directed by Bob Clark and he uses the same stylistics as he did with Black Christmas.

Murder By Decree I actually picked up from a cheap DVD a few years back, but sadly the picture/sound "quality" and of course no subtitles included, did the film little justice, and well, thankfully it has recently been re-released with a hopefully better quality and subtitles, as I really wanted to like it, but might get more out of it this round. Speaking of Jack the Ripper films, I only the other day saw a rather enjoyable David Hasselhoff (made for tv) mid 80s film, called Terror on the Bridge, where Jack the Ripper is transported almost 100 years in time, towards modern day, and continues where he left off, but this time it is taking place in Arizona, not Whitechapel. Maybe not a classic, but somehow I got more out of it, than say, Time After Time (1979), which I thought was kind of a letdown.

I thought From Hell with Johnny Depp was a fairly good Jack the Ripper- themed thriller as well. I actually did catch up with From Hell a couple of months back, and always wanted to get more out of it, than I end up with. Some great atmosphere and performances, specially by Robbie Coltrane and Ian Holm, but yeah, Depp and Heather Graham just looks far too "clean and pretty", in what must have been, well close to hell on earth at that period of time. But I believe the film was based upon a graphic comic novel, so it might have fit well with what went on in the film, still it feels a bit like a "lost opportunity", could easily see someone like Robert Carlyle in the Depp part, and maybe some less stunning british female, in the Graham role. All in all, I guess I will always end up comparing most of these Ripper films, towards the truly fantastic miniseries with Michael Caine from the late 80s, which keeps growing on me, for each new visit.
