That red Blu-ray release of Curtains, sure do remind of the HD-DVD red discs, from back in 2007-08, but which were soon gone, after the Blu-ray format won the war. Anyway, Curtains I have yet to see, but is one of those I might pick up on, during the October Challenge later this fall. Sneakers I have an old DVD copy of, but a very enjoyable crime-comedy/action movie, with such a likeable cast, and for me, I found it way more entertaining than similar films like the Mission Impossible film from 1996, or the later early 00s crime/caper action-comedies.

Had on DVD. Upgraded to Blu Ray. Not meaning to dismiss the films, as those are certainly classics, but damn. I truly loathe how so many of those, especially when it comes to such iconic or legendary movie artwork/posters, far too often get completely ruined, the moment they head onto Blu-ray. Of course, most folks do not buy them because of the artwork/posters, but still, I guess that is why I usually keep the original DVD case/artwork, then put the Blu-ray disc into a plastic sleeve, and into the DVD case it goes. The Blu-ray cover itself, I would throw into the trashcan. However, the Evil Dead one, is not terrible, but the Die Hard films and sadly also too often with the Bond movies (this also again is far too often on DVD format as well) is completely butchered, compared to the the VHS tapes, or at least of those I have in my collection.

Some nice looking release you got there. Dead and Buried, I might need to upgrade, as my old Ancor Bay (I believe) copy on DVD, is still very intact, but certain films, I guess could benefit from a bit of good old double-dipping, every now and then.
Silver Bullet I already own 2 DVD copies of, and have been wondering about re-purchasing it, on Blu-ray, but which one is the place to go? I noticed that just last week, a swedish blu-ray release were put out, and I might take a closer look at that one first. Also could not help but see, that an upcoming (I believe in the middle of October) a new Blu-ray 8th movie box-set of the Friday the 13th movies, will arrive later this year. Still not upgraded my old DVD box-set (From Camp Crystal to Manhattan), which I think is still fine and all, but again, I might look at the Blu-ray release a bit closer, when it is due to being released, and how fans of the films might react. I only know of one other blu-ray release of Silver Bullet. The Umbrella release which I am pretty sure is region free. I still have my F13th DVD box set that came with a replica mini hockey mask. The box is like a window display sort of with blue and red tint and woodsy forest artwork and I keep the mask in it because it looks neater that way imo. The cardboard book with sleeves is terrible for the discs though. I keep them in CD cases. And I have the SF limited box. But, and this is in the US, there are two F13th blu-ray repackages of the first 8 films coming. Both from Paramount themselves. I won't be getting these BUT if I were I would get the red case set over the steelbook. Great artwork and I love that sack head Jason is on it.

The actual case under the slipcover. This poster style artwork is what I remember from the movie book I used to checkout of the school library. Classic 1970s style.

The red one, that would have been my pick as well. The sack head version of Jason, I have always found way more menicing and scary, than the more iconic and later hockeymask version. I guess they are really over milking it, but what else is new? The one Scream Factory put out last year, is probably the "ultimate" fan edition, or so it seems. But I am not very tempted to go beyond the first 8 films, as few of what followed have impressed me.

I don't know why in the world the artist put that sharpened wooden beam jutting up at a weird angle. Right in front of our protagonists and even over top of the title. My eye catches that first thing and it just ruins the cover, sticking out like a sore thumb and throwing everything off kilter. Its used as a weapon in the film but should've just lost it for the cover.
The case under the unfortunate slipcover. Much better! This is the art I remember on the VHS box so long ago at Suncoast at the mall.

Wanted to post this one seperate to ask a question. I chose to display the cover art (reversible wrap) depicted at the very top of this post for my copy of Madman. With the classic red background, full moon, and trees and Madman Marz in black silhouette. Am I the only one that looks at the cover art at the bottom and all I can see/think is Pig Pen from the Peanuts grew up to become an ax killer ???

Thanks for putting up all these different artworks/covers, as some were sure impressive and stunning in how they look, specially Sleepless and The Gates of Hell (which I believe I have seen/own myself, but it goes under a different title: City of the Living Dead), the second image, below the first one.
