When I was a teenager, mum seemed to go through a phase of being into vitamins, but I never really got that interested.
And I think she lost interest in them after a while as well.

Always best to get your nutrients from whole foods whenever you can.
But life gets in the way. Sometimes, that's not always possible. A basic multi-vitamin and a vitamin-D (especially when we spend so much more time indoors than we used to) seems to help when solid meal plans don't fit your schedule.
