Obviously, like many others who have replied, I don't limit my Best List to 10-per-year. During this century, mainly during the first decade, the number of independent and foreign films available rocketed from previous years. From 2000 to about 2009 in the city where I lived there were three theater chains with about 12 total screens dedicated to the Indie explosion. Most of my titles come from films seen at these theaters. I toted up the number on each year's Best List. 2009 came out the winner with 20. 2016 was in second place with 17.
