How long do you think I can physically live without eating?
I was thinking of trying a spiritual fast.
I am going to have the whole month of June off, and I wanted to try and not eat for 30 days. Just drink water.
I’m 6’4” and 195 lbs... nearly 200 lbs.

You would probably end up in a hospital if you were to go that extreme.

Your organs could shut down. I'm proud of you for your self control, but this is not the way to do it. btw I use the rosary as a way to get closer to God. Good luck with your spiritual pursuit, mel, but do NOT try a long fast.

I would, certainly, consult a professional ... physician, nutritionist, AND Priest/Rabbi/Minister ... before such an experiment. I'm not trained in any of those disciplines, but I'm guessing that they would advise against such a drastic measure.
If you're fasting for introspection, or "clarity," I think that your ability to reason would suffer, as the the body's resources suffer.
Also, consider that at the end of a month long fast, you would have to return to your job, or routine, with probably severe limitations on your ability to function well (if at all).
A friend went on a "vision quest," back in the 70s. The exercise included a two day fast. He said that he actually felt a little energized after the 2nd day, and fasted for a 3rd. After that, his intuition told him not to go furthher.
An actor (I think it was Larry Hagman), is said to have fasted, and avoided speaking, on Sundays. I doubt that one occasional day would hurt anyone, and might be refreshing.
I don't know how spirituality, religion, and/or a personal challenge, come together in your personal trial. Only you can know that.
Good luck.

Fasting is stupid and unhealthy. Don't do it, regardless of who tells you it's good for your system.
It just isn't.
Period.

(not a doctor , but it seems so) I think 3 to 4 days would be ok, but even then you have to do research on refeeding. but of course like someone else said, talk to your doctor first.

Thirty days is insane. Don’t even think about trying it. I fasted for four days once. My girlfriend at the time was this new-age type and she wanted to fast to “cleanse” herself. Since we were living together and I was not working, I figured I’d join her. In the third and fourth days I could barely get out of bed. We didn't drink during the four days either, which in hindsight was incredibly stupid. I kind of cheated a little bit with the water by putting some water in my mouth just to relieve the dryness that was driving me crazy, and then spitting it out.

jesus christ no. do not do that. seriously dangerous you risk irreparable damage to your organs. How long is long enough? long enough for what? IF you are healthy its fairly safe to do one day. its ok to do 2 days of water fast. anything outside of two days should not be water only, but at least 500 kcal a day, to maintain basic organ function and only upon checking with doctor. water fast for longer can be dome but Only with preparation and after a medical consult. But unless it is prescribed to you by doctor, do not water fast for longer than 10 days no matter what. - your brain, liver, kidneys as well as heart face serious damage during prolonged COMPLETE fasting because you lose minerals etc not only calories/fat and eventually your body will start consuming healthy tissue. Do not toy with it.

It's foolish to fast without water. Water cleanses the system especially when there is no digesting food in the way. When I fast I drink plenty of water. It's like having a stream run through your tract to clean it out.

Interestingly, Dr. Google says that human beings can survive around three days without water. As I said, I remember being completely without energy in the last two of the four days, but I never thought I was about to die. Anyway, I was young (late twenties) and in pretty good health back then. That certainly helped. And by putting water on my mouth and spitting it out I am sure some moisture was absorbed into my body.

I want to paint a picture at the end of the fast and see if it gives me a revelation. I read somewhere Miró did that. He would only chew gum and drink water for extended periods of time to help him visualize his paintings. But he was a surrealist, and I do landscapes and floral paintings.

Perhaps it’s like what say about art: It’s never finished, only abandoned. At some point, you’ll need to be content, otherwise you’ll defeat the purpose. If the before and after pics you posted are any indication, I see no reason for you to not be content right now. To put it another way, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You ain’t broke.
