Was in the store about five minutes, when an employee came up to me and said, "Ma'am, you have to wear a mask." I was going to say, "I AM!", which I realized I wasn't!!!! I was SOOOOO EMBARRASSED! She got me a mask from the front desk. I told her I was so embarrassed. No wonder people were looking at me with disdain!!!
Can't believe that happened.
I almost forgot to put it on when I had to go into the bank to sign some papers today. I was just about to leave the car, when I realized I didn't have it on.
Hmm.

Last fall, I told a neighbor that I was going to run something over to her. It's about 4 blocks.
She was waiting for a friend to pick her up, and it was just a quick hand-off.
On the way home, I realized that I had forgotten to put on a mask. I, too, was stunned, and embarrassed. I pulled the neck of my tee-shirt up over my nose, and went the rest of the way home at a quick pace.

Agreed. One doesn't really think of it because we're not used to it. That's happened to me a few times. I realize it right in the nick of time, though. I was going into the department store where I often frequent. I was just about to walk in when I realize. I'm running out to the car. Employee did say they had masks at the entrance. However, I did say I would get mine. Save the ones they have for someone who really NEEDS it. For the other couple of times, I'm surprised the staff didn't hear me shout out, "OH CRAP!" because I forgot to put on a mask. Joker's Wilde

I did the same thing when I stopped at the vets to pick up my dogs prescription food. It was a super quick hand off, and while I'm so super vigilant about mask-wearing, I just turned my head and *poof* there they were, standing there to hand me the case of cans of food. I got out of the car, opened the back door, and when I realized "whoops no mask," I tried to do it all while facing the other way. All for an interaction that lasted about 45 seconds.

I think I have it on and it isn't.

Are you noticing this too divtal? I'm still wearing them

Early on in the lockdown, I walked into a grocery store. I noticed people looking at me weird. Then I realized why: I still had my mask in my pocket instead of on my face.

I forget mine too sometimes and have to go back home. The lockdown has gotten stricter here, so they'd probably arrest me if I don't have one.

I took my black cotton, (relatively) allergy friendly mask down on the bus a year ago without thinking; been good since, touch hard wood. The driver was understanding as I pulled it up sharp/.

It's easy to keep 6 feet from people so I don't see it as an issue.
I carry a mask in my shirt pocket so if I decide to go in a business I just put it on before entering.
But I'm aghast when I see people driving alone with their car windows rolled up and wearing a mask. It makes no sense to me.

I always have my mask in my car, but one time when I went into a drug store I forgot to put it on. I was wondering why some people were glaring at me, and then it dawned on me why. D'oh! But one of the pharmacists gave a disposable mask to wear in the store. But yeah, I really felt like a horse's ass for forgetting bring the mask from my car.

I can't wait to finish my degree so I could stop working in retail and having to tell people to wear masks.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???
Weird thing is that I was good for a whole year but have forgotten my mask twice in the last 3 weeks.

I've done the opposite in my car... more than a couple times too. Go to 'take my mask off' after parking at home, & oh yeah, it's already off. Masks are becoming the new socks.

About 3 weeks ago I went into Walmart without a mask on for the first time in about 6-7 months, felt kind of weird the first time, next time I went in, perfectly natural.

"I notice people are not wearing them here like a few months ago. Are you noticing this too divtal?"
People out on the streets, and indoors at stores/restaurants are still wearing masks in-transit. What I see easing is wearing them with the same rigor that we did early on. Yesterday, I went to a birthday brunch ... outdoors. Our group of 6 had all had our vaccines, and we pretty much dispensed with them during the meal/conversation.

It happens. Nobody can be expected to be mindful of all the rules all of the time. What's obnoxious to me is when people purposefully do not wear a mask because they are looking for a fight. Ugggghhh...
