It's crucible time and thus far two points worth mentioning:- 1. Neil Robertson's hair is magnificent www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/56792373Always thought he was pretty dull but, whilst not quite Allison's moustache, this has elevated him to genuine "character" levels for this year's tourney. 2. There appears to be A WOMAN who isn't Hazel Irvine serving as a pundit on the BBC! As I understand it she is QUITE good but does her experience mean she should be there on merit or is this like having some Sunday League dude telling us about playing pressures on MOTD? (... Or is anything which decreases John Parrot's screen time a good thing?)

The new women has been doing snooker on the Beeb for a while. I'm sure she was doing the WC last year too.
Seema Jaswal. I think she's very good .. and pretty!

No, it wasn't her - but having looked at her pictures I do seem to remember discussing her last year...
She wasn't a host / presenter but a pundit I guess in the Karen Carney mould. She was doing analysis alongside Ken Doherty during Yan Bingtao's game.

I knew that do seemed familiar... I loved Nighty Night! The scene where Davis is trying to get Glen to eat the poisoned Angel Delight is hilarious!

Yeah, it's great that - love it when asks her if she's going to eat hers and she says something like "You know what Glen my love, I'm just not feeling hungry" 😂.

No, I’d always meant to though. Worth watching if they ever show it again (during the next fortnight maybe I guess) or if it's on the iPlayer. Was played mostly for laughs but the Steve Davis Hurricane Higgins rivalry and the fall of Higgins was pretty well done.

Rocket Ronnie is in trouble I see:- www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/5685854310-6 down, first to 13. Think I'll tune in this evening to see if starts potting everything in sight or gives up and decides to go home...

Think I'll tune in this evening to see if starts potting everything in sight or gives up and decides to go home... I wish it was televised in the US. but we have to have 3000 poker shows a day to fill in the hours on our 3000 sports channels.
I've played a lot of pool, played a lot of snooker. Seen a lot of pool, seen a lot of snooker. And it's all baby shit compared to this.
There's no jaw dropping shots. There's not one shot that O'Sullivan makes that I couldn't 95% of the time. But he plays with exact perfect fucking position every single fucking time. That I cannot do. I haven't counted how many shots he took but to leave the white in the perfect spot every time is amazing. Sooner or later, anyone is going to stroke too hard or too soft (heh heh, I said...) and you're going to be off a hair. He didn't. No Ridiculous bank shots, no jaw dropping English, nothing to write home about on any single shot. Taken as a whole, it's a damned masterpiece

That I cannot do. Yeah, it's really difficult to appreciate just how difficult snooker is watching it on TV unless you've tried playing yourself. I think the table is maybe 4 x the size of a pool table (maybe a bit less if US tables are 7 foot) and it's incredibly difficult to keep position. I used to play years ago but peaked at breaks of ~ 30 so I was pretty hopeless! Anyway Rocket Ronnie's game has gone 12-12! Decider underway...

Done 72 so far and that was kind of a fluke.
Yeah, snooker is more difficult than American billiards. Pockets are tighter and the white/cue ball is smaller, so it's tougher to put English on it. But it's more "boring". Americans don't take to games with a lot (any?) safety play. We want to make shots, not tickle the objet ball and freeze the cue ball on a rail. Yawn,
I have three tables in my basement, a regulation pool table, a snooker table and a "bar table". I joke to my wife that there's room for a true billiards table. She's not amused, even though she knows I don't care for the game.
Go Ronnie!

That's very impressive - the break and the your basement games room setup! So is the "bar table" six foot and the regulation one seven? I'm sure what'd we'd call the "American style" tables here are slightly bigger and with more forgiving pockets... Yeah, as per Carl's post - Ronnie's out! Lost the decider having been in among the balls. What a waste of a comeback!

A true regulation pool table is slightly smaller than a snooker table. It's designed for 14:1 rotation, not 9 Ball
Been obsessed with the games since I was a kid. I only took up snooker about 10 years ago. The principle is the same.
And I have this poster on the wall
