It certainly looks action packed. The Ten Rings are arm bracelets now. I'm curious as to if/how they'll retcon the Mandarin.

Meh. I can’t shake the impression that this is only getting made because Disney is obsessed with making their movies accessible to China.

Research is your friend. Sure but it’s a fair point considering that we are getting Shang Chi before She-Hulk or Alpha Flight. Maybe if there were 1.2 billion canucks that would be different. Anyway I don’t blame Marvel. Blacks already got Black Panther, women already got Captain Marvel, idiots already got WandaVision and now Asians have got Shang Chi.

They almost always do.

Not sure how to feel about this to be honest. The fight choreography seems top notch but looks like they're using wire-fu which is pretty inconsistent with the rest of the MCU.
Right now I can't shake the image of it being a mash-up of Ironfist and Mulan. Just hope it turns out way better than both.

Research is your friend. When did I suggest that the character isn’t meant to be Chinese? I’m saying that I’m pretty sure the only reason the character is getting a film is because Disney is obsessed with appealing to China.

The first thing I thought was Brack Panther. Just an Asian Black Panther.

It would surprise me if either of those got a big screen outing first.

I think She-Hulk has historically been higher profile than Shang-Chi, by virtue of being the Hulk’s female cousin.

Maybe it's just me (the largest chunk of my collection is Bronze Age) but all the years collecting comics, it always felt MOKF was more popular than the others, certainly in the case of She-Hulk, as an actual series, where MOKF had his own ongoing series way longer than She-Hulk. Doesn't really matter who should or shouldn't be done first anyway. Iron Man and Guardians put paid to that expectation

Maybe politically, but not regarding Asian actors. Sure, one was shoehorned into IM3 but Chinese audiences don’t seem to really care if there is Asian representation in films. They aren’t like India, who have a market where foreign films find it very hard to penetrate.

She-Hulk is getting a TV show so if she makes a big screen appearance it'll be in someone else's movie.

They aren’t like India, who have a market where foreign films find it very hard to penetrate. The main thing is Disney does not want to make films for Europeans like they used to. So they have to run around the globe to avoid the whiteness. There's a million stories they can tell to attract European audiences but that violates their political ideology.
It's ok to do a Chinese of African action man but they won't do it with a white guy.
Even if they knew they would make money.

Sure, one was shoehorned into IM3 but Chinese audiences don’t seem to really care if there is Asian representation in films. They aren’t like India, who have a market where foreign films find it very hard to penetrate. What? One film with a black lead and one coming up with an Asian lead...out of 24 films! Avoid the whiteness! Yeah they are really aggressively going forward with that
And a lot of those stories involve non-"European" characters. It's not a case of forcing them upon people, if they were not told it's a case of deliberately avoiding them. Did Black Panther alienate European audiences? It seemed to do quite well at the Box Office
Yeah 20+ "white guy" movies....how dare they let those non-white fronted films dominate and take over the franchise. I mean really what is your problem? Has making this meant that your favourite not-yet-made-it-to-screen white guy comic book hero hasn't been made?
