I (pretty much) cruised through High School, getting good grades in almost every subject I took (EXCEPT Art class !! ), especially all of my math courses.......that is, until I ran STRAIGHT into the immoveable iceberg that was Calculus (and, by association, Physics, which had A LOT of calculus in it!) !! I'll never forget the VERY odd feeling that suddenly everybody seemed to be speaking in a COMPLETELY different language when it came to this particular subject......one that I didn't understand......and that how, no matter what I did, I just couldn't grasp any of the fundamentals of this subject, AT ALL !! Long story short, my teacher, in a moment of kindness, ended up (barely) passing me with a "D" (actually may have been a "D-"......my VERY 'spotty' memory seems to recollect ACTUALLY seeing a "-" next to that "D", but all these (40) years later, I can't be sure....), which I MOST CERTAINLY did NOT deserve (it was my Senior year, and in a moment of pity (I'm guessing), my teacher didn't want to screw up my graduation, and force me to have to spend my summer retaking the class......though why, I have NO clue!)!! SAVE FERRIS

Phonics.
I remember in 1st grade we were suppose to circle the letters that started the picture.
Like church would be ch
I didn't know they meant church.
It could have been building, store , school, etc. (I know.. the cross was the tell, but I didn't get it as a kid)
Once the teacher did it in group; all us little second language speakers did fine.
So phonics

I took two years of calculus in college and understood almost none of it but somehow passed anyway. Thermodynamics was a horrible class too.

Math. I've always been terrible at it. Going back to the 2nd grade. I graduated early from high school despite never finishing Algebra 2 class, when most of my classmates were in Calculus.
Because I was so shitty at Algebra, I had to take Algebra again in college before they would let me take Statistics. When I did eventually take Statistics, I failed. It was the first and only class I ever failed.

My Driver's Ed instructor got charged with vehicular manslaughter about 20 years after my graduating class. Irony much?

Art history the part of grammar that involved diagramming sentences Math, anything past basic times tables and division, etc., it all sucked. I always got A's in math, but I HATED it, it was the worst part of every single day, nobody could explain why I needed to know it, and 20 years later, most of it is still non-applicable in the real world so what is even the point?

I thought Organic Chemistry was tough, although I never did the homework and I skipped the review sessions for the exams. I still got a B+, but I should have done better.

I don't think there's any avoiding it for my masters though, if/when I go back.

All of them
I sucked at school and was an awful student because of my lack of intelligence and ability to learn stuff.

In no particular order, chemistry, physics, algebra, precalculus, and Spanish, all helped to keep me hovering around the 3.0 GPA. My Spanish knowledge, despite earning three required credits for my high school graduation, is severely limited.

Chemistry. I did well in one semester, but barely passed during my second semester.

The school system failed me. The whole jr. high and high school experience was a waste of time.
I felt like I only learned from One teacher. oddly I passed her class with a D.
So I'd say School in general kicked my ass

I didn't understand Geometry. Luckily I was able to graduate without it.
I don't even remember how to do long division anymore, because it has been 20 years since I had any reason to use it.
I don't remember much about what I learned in High School tbh, I just know I graduated with a 3.0.

High School was a walk in the park for me. I always got good grades without having to put much of an effort, and that was especially true for Mathematics. So it was a shock for me when I took Calculus 1 in my first semester at university and couldn’t make heads or tails of any of it. I got a passing grade but just barely. In my defense, this was also the case for everyone else in the class. The professor was just terrible. Next semester for Calculus 2 with a decent professor I understood everything and got an A.
