One of John Carpenter's best films, and maybe my personal favorite of his. Atmospheric horror filmmaking at its finest. The film just oozes atmosphere and eeriness. A fantastic cast (with the exception of Julie Carmen who is admittedly weak) and great practical effects. The film is like a nightmare/dream you might have had that you are watching as a movie. The film is undoubtedly a mindscrew but in a good way as it leaves you thinking rather than annoyed
If you haven't seen it, first listen to the awesome theme Carpenter composed for it, then go check it out

A great and unique horror film. Second best movie of the apocalypse trilogy right behind The Thing.

In the Mouth of Madness - 7.5/10It is my 3rd favorite of his movies. It is smart, interesting and intensely creepy. The movie is about the limits of what our mind is able to comprehend and handle when it comes to the truth of existence. Terrifying to think about, yet the movie manages to be cathartic.

One of Carpenter's best movies. In fact, find it to be his creepiest. The story is novel and the monster effects are extremely effective. Would rank it above many of his more well-known works.
