Saw this after having worked on the 103rd floor of the World Trade Center North tower. Our fire drill was to walk down to floor 100 (i.e. "below the fire")
No one up there survived on 9/11.

If you're a fan of Paul Newman or Steve McQueen, how can you not love this movie? McQueen was such a boss in The Towering Inferno. The plot took the unusual step of killing off characters that in most films would have survived to the end. Someone survives all kinds of unbelievable challenges but then dies completely unexpectedly at a later point. Great special effects with the fires (although the effects for the exterior views of the building could have been a lot better). And how about that braless gown that Faye Dunaway was wearing? Pretty daring for an early 70s PG blockbuster.
