I used to live in a town near Los Angeles with a lot of Hollywood types (met Ted Danson and Michael Bowen), never met any musicians though.

I got a chance to talk to Neil Young about 15 years ago. I didn't want to seem too gushing, so I talked about hockey with him, which I could tell made him happy. It was pretty cool, but I do regret not at least mentioning how much his music meant to me. Oh well, I did get to look him in those intense eyes of his.
I have a cousin who was married to the brother of Fran Christina, who was the drummer of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. I got to go to a family barbecue where I met the entire band, who brought a gold album from their "Tuff Enuff" days. We ended up playing football and I got to throw a pass to Jimmie Vaughn, Stevie Ray's brother. All the guys were real cool.

^^^ I totally get your regretting not telling Mr. Young what his material means to you, but what you did do may most likely be what needed to be done because what you did was talk to him as if he was just another person. Because of his public status, I am sure that he may never see enough of that.
God bless you and him always!!!
Holly
P.S. Have I ever met anyone? I have, but honestly and I do not mean to sound like I'm bragging when I say this, but I have too many people to name. I'd hate to leave anyone out.

This has nothing to do with the thread, but I want to say that you are probably the nicest poster that I've come across in this place. Just wanted to tell you that, don't go changing.

I sat a couple of tables away from Robert Plant at a Chicago restaurant in 1988. Some people were asking him for autographs. One young man brought in a copy of LZ IV to get signed. Plant generously obliged all. My gf and I left him alone.

Sat next to Phil Lesh on a flight from Chicago to San Francisco. I never realized it was him until the last 15 minutes or so. Without the glasses and in a suit and tie, it's was difficult to recognize him. he was cool though, we talked quite a bit, even without knowing he was the Grateful Dead's bass player

I met someone named Kevin who was in a group called The Grateful Wrath? I think--I am not familiar with his music but I had a 2 hour conversation with him and his wife. She was from Los Angeles and hated it-she was glad to get out.
I briefly talked to Randy Bachman -- I borrowed the family computer because we had a glitch with ours--his wife's son -unrelated to him-said I could borrow theirs---and it broke for the same reason ours had--had to try to sneak it back-but he saw me as he was watering the garden and said "Is that our computer?"
I said "uh, yeah." and ran past.

I "met" (didn’t really talk just took pictures with them) the band Children of Bodom. They’re famous in the metal world. The singer/lead guitarist passed away recently, I’m glad I have a picture with him.

My favourite encounter was with Captain Sensible from The Damned but that was mainly because his beautiful German girlfriend informed me about the horrors of animal testing.

Chatted to Lemmy and shared a joint while he tried to pick up my girlfriend at the time and tried to converse with an extremely fucked up Johnny Thuunders plus loads of people from lesser known bands, I think John Watt of Fischer Z was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Genuinely good guy.

I’ve met Dave Matthews and Ace Frehley (separately) while working retail. One was totally cool, unpretentious, nice as could be, and the other was a dick. Ironically I strongly dislike the nice one’s music while I love the a-hole’s music.

I seem to meet stand-up comedians. Some by accident (Dave Chappelle), and some on purpose, like Mort Sahl, who I met four times and spoke to him after the show, signing each other's books, etc.. But music-wise, the most famous guy I met was Dave Kilminster, who has been Roger Waters' lead guitarist for a few decades. He's a friend of a friend, and since I went to Europe for a five-month trip, I thought I'd go to England to meet up with them all. We talked a bit after this show at a pub, which had no more than 15 people, and my friend took many pictures.
Actually, I've played with semi-famous musicians personally, just won't name them to blow my location cover.
