The more I think about it, I kind of feel like Haunted Mansion would work better as a tv show instead of a movie. Kind of like an anthology series in the mold of those two The Haunting of... series on Netflix.

Oy. I’m not especially interested in the movie and largely just worried Disney will use an adaptation as an excuse to mess up the excellent ride.

Sadly, I don’t think they can do worse than the Eddie Murphy film which was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen.

I liked the Eddie Murphy film (Admittedly, I like the Mr.Gracey and Mrs.Evers/the ghosts with the kids parts better than anything with Murphy) well enough, but my big disappointment- we aren't getting the one Del Toro wanted to make. When you heard his interviews, the man clearly loved the rides and the stuff they were based on from the research the Imagineers did years back. He wanted to make a really good film that was 'family enough' to suite Disney's profit-making aims, but also make his own fans happy, and to make a movie that was just plain good.

Can someone petition like Kevin Feige or something, to get Del Toro to come make his adaptation in three or four years? That's the current grace period before doing a remake of a movie, right?

Also I just got done watching Jungle Cruise. Very fun movie and it clearly shows if you just get the right people involved you can make a good movie. I don’t know why they’re trying to replicate the Murphy movie. Del Toro clearly loved the ride and he talks very passionately about how much he loves the ride and how he was so upset with the first movie that he wanted to make his own version. At this point FUCK DISNEY!!! The fact they wouldn’t let Del Toro make the movie he wanted just shows how little they give a fuck about their own properties.

Casting rumors about the ghosts.
TEXT:
According to That Hashtag Show, who reportedly have seen a casting sheet for the film, here are some of the spirits from the ride that will appear in the film.
First up are some "practical ghosts," which the outlet claims are described as appearing in the film and in wall portraits but whose appearance is reportedly in a "non-scripted capacity," they include: William Gracey and his wife, which the outlet claims are a "wealthy Creole couple in their early 30s" and "free people of color from 19th century New Orleans," lore of The Haunted Mansion has previously pinned Gracey as the "master of the house." Others that have previously had a place on the ride and will seemingly appear in the film include The Mariner, a Dueling Ghost, and (naturally), The Bride, the ghost famous for beheading her husbands. Another, seemingly new ghost, will be The Butler.
Some others that will appear in the film are described as "talking portrait" ghosts, which fans of the Disney ride will recognize from the "stretching" room and its elongated portraits. These parts are reportedly motion capture performances and they include the Woman with Rose, a character whose picture reveals her sitting on her husband's grave (a hatchet buried in his memorial visage); Man in Dynamite Suit, revealed in his picture to be sitting on a keg of TNT; The Ballerina, a young dancer balancing on a high wire above an alligator; and naturally the Quicksand Man, a guy standing on top of two other guys, all sinking into quicksand.

Heard that Owen W. may be one of the visitors to the mansion, who gets spooked by the resident 999 happy haunts.

Seriously, what hashtag do we need to get trending, to make Disney cough up a Del Toro HAUNTED MANSION movie? Heck, do it for D+ at this point.
