I kept hearing the same thing like you said that she is awful. I don't know how she got the nomination to begin with. The movie is available on Netflix. It is just not appealing for me to watch it at this time. Eventually though. Is the movie terrible too? Hillbilly Elegy is certainly worth seeing, but it shies away from the more controversial, insightful and honest parts of the acclaimed book it is based on - which is a must-read. So, while it has much to recommend it, Ron Howard's film version is a cop out seemingly fearful of offending a certain part of America's population. Which is not, however, to say it makes that aforementioned part of America's population look good. Because it doesn't. Watch it sometime. Amy Adams is very good in it, and Bo Hopkins has a strong supporting role. Amy Adams in it, I am sold.

You do want to get your hands on FALLING timshelboy. Henricksen delivers a performance for the ages as the most profane and un PC character to hit the screen in the last year, but writer-director Mortensen treats him such sympathy. As for Hopkins, well I lost my mother a little while ago after her long, horrifying and heartbreaking battle with dementia. I came away from this film with a greater understanding of what I had seen and lived through first hand with my mother - I was left scorched. Hopkin's created a character that took me into my mother's world and illuminated things I had battled to understand at the time. To say my partner and I were moved at the end of this film is an understatement. SUPERNOVA - with Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci, is not in the league of THE FATHER, but it has the most beautiful ending of all the dementia movies currently doing the rounds. It's well worth a look too. Have spent the last 6 months locking down with my 88 yr old Dad - sounds like I need to see it.

Finally, and finally, I got see The Father. It was worth the wait. I must say, this is the best movie so far from last year. Mental confusion stuff have been done before like Tale of Two Sisters and Memento. This is more realistic scenario, and more scary than the horror movie stuff if you think about it. I am glad it won the screenplay because it was very well put together. what can I say about the performance. The Oscar and the BAFTA picked the right winner. This is a great movie I know because I stopped what I was doing and watched it til the end.

There were ups and down in her role, but she was decent and mostly up. I think the make up really fits her character and where the character came from. Amy Adams, never disappointing. The story was touching. This type of story, I can understand why Razzie doesn't like it. It may not be for anyone who does not like a sentimental movie. This one has an an interesting story.
