Now that more time has passed it seems that the idea of recasting T’Challa is getting more and more support, from Twitter campaigns to numerous petitions. I won’t list all of the reasons why I personally believe he should be recast because we’ve all said/heard it all before regardless of our position.
But I wonder now if there’s any chance that Marvel will reverse it’s decision. Filming has not yet begun and I see no reason why they can’t toss out their revisions and revert to the original script, however unlikely that seems.
I think their decision was meant to be as sensitive as possible and didn’t really take into account the importance of the character, but now that time has passed I think it’s a decision they should revisit. But will they?
Thoughts?

I'm too stubborn to ever let myself enjoy anyone as T'Challa as much as I did Boseman. That being said I'd still like to see where they were going to take the character next recasting is pretty much the only way to achieve this.

The idea not to recast Black Panther is the stupidest decision in Hollywood history. Marvel really disappointed me. I'm used to Zack Snyder being an idiot but when it comes to Marvel I like to think they know what they're doing but when it comes to the death of an actor it completely throws them and that's troubling. I understand it may have been a shock but how long are you going to continue being shocked? Move the fuck on already and entertain your audience. Chadwick isn't the last Marvel actor that will die and Marvel need to deal with that like adults.

Get someone different and call it Black Panther Too!

Kevin Feige told the world there would be no recast or a CGI recreation (which would be a terrible idea). I can't see them changing their mind since Ryan Coogler still plans to shoot the film in Atlanta. However, a recast feels warranted given the possibilities of where they could take T'Challa.

Yeah, I doubt anyone could be as good in the role as T’Challa and even if they were I’d never enjoy as much as the original. No matter what it’s going to tragic and hard to accept. But just abandoning such an iconic character seems very wrong to me. The series is going to fall apart without the main character and the legacy will essentially be limited to just one movie. It’s doubtful a decades on reboot would capture the same attention and cultural following.

Recasting a character like T’Challa would be distracting.

Recasting a character like T’Challa would be distracting. If Black Panther II is a standalone movie (I assume it is), it could work I guess.

Recasting a character like T’Challa would be distracting. It certainly would. But I think it’s the best of a bunch of bad options. None of them are ideal.

Recasting a character like T’Challa would be distracting. Too distracting? What's distracting for you? You know the actor is dead and that he can't be brought back, move on already. There's no such thing as "a character like" it's just a role not your daddy.

I think there's a Wakanda series too in development right? Who knows what theyre planning with that? They have done it before with War Machine, changed the actors that is. Situation is different now and that needs to be taken into account. Too politically charged. Perhaps they are just waiting for the right time? Also Ray Fisher is bringing all kinds of bad attention to the superhero 'industry' in general, whether you are on his side or not

Also have to say Im not that upset with Boseman's death, honestly ambivalent. Sure any death is tragic. You can even like the character sure and be upset over that. Havent had much exposure to Boseman before or outside the MCU, so thats my reason anyway
For the record, his take on the character was awesome. Movie was decent-ish

Besides playing Cyborg? 😂 An actor dying is not a situation that needs to be taken into account it's a fact of life.

Real world politics is being taken into account unfortunately. Thats probs why we have forced politics in the recent Falcon and Winter Soldier series. Not only the African American struggle but also a globalist agenda

This isn't specifically a "superhero industry" only problem. It's an ego only problem.

I didnt say it was exclusive but it would still add some weight to the politics of the decision. Whedon is also connected to the MCU
