Possibly my favorite Stones album, much prefer it to Exile which is pretty overrated IMO. “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking,” “Brown Sugar,” “Bitch,” and “Moonlight Mile” are classics. Strangely enough, don’t care too much for “Wild Horses” which everyone nuts themselves over for some reason.

A fine album. I hear the influences of Leon Russell and Delaney Bramlett. And of course Brown Sugar is based on one of Russell's backup singers, the lovely Claudia Lennear. (See visual aid) If memory serves the early printings of the album had a working zipper.

Great album and I am one of the people who loves Wild Horses. Another one of my favorites you didn't mention is Dead Flowers.

Good album, although gets more praise than it deserves due to being a "Keith" album rather than a "Mick" one and the decadent tax exile sloppiness beloved of critics.

Recorded mostly at the Muscle Shoals studio.

Great, great album. Probably their best one overall, not a dud track on the whole thing.
I remember the album we had back in the day had the real zipper on it. Still one of the most bizarre album covers I ever saw, but the music was absolutely sublime.

Tell Me Congratulations I presume it's well known who "Nanker Phelge" (author of "2120 S Michigan Ave") was and what was at the address. I love their early covers - Movin' On, Rt 66, Down the Road Apiece, Little Red Rooster.... Note that "congratulations" was misspelled on the jacket. Back then I was stunned that so august an institution as a record company would not know the proper spelling.

The old "Side Two" is one of the best in Stones History. Moonlight Mile is such a great tune. I thing Jagger's two best vocals are on Satisfaction and Sister Morphine. The anguish in his voice...
I still think Exile might be the better album, but not by much.
