Brian Henry Martin's documentary '50 Years Of The Troubles' sees director and film critic Mark Cousins visit some of the places where he grew up in Northern Ireland . He talks about films that have reflected upon local politics as well as films he found reflective of his own personal experiences. Cousins' narrative is constructed like a lyrical tone poem which is in keeping with his customary style of oration.
There's some interesting thoughts on Irish cinema here and a bit of history about Belfast. Similar to Mark Kermode, Cousins found his holy grail in William Friedkin's horror movie 'The Exorcist' (1973), but one of his aunts had to sprinkle holy water on the video player before inserting the tape.
