James Stewart, Marlene Dietrich, Glynis Johns, Jack Hawkins
You almost have to watch this film to see how they could combine Jimmy Stewart, Marlene Dietrich, and Glynis Johns in the same film.
Stewart plays an expatriate American absent-minded-professor-type scientist working in aeronautical engineering in England. He is convinced that a new passenger jet's design has a fatal flaw that will lead to all of the planes crashing after 1,440 hours flight time. But the company isn't convinced and refuses to ground the planes. He is sent to investigate the wreckage of the first of the prototypes to see whether there is evidence to support his theory. Of course, it turns out that the plane he flies out on is one of suspect model (and he of course doesn't notice this as he is boarding, despite the fact that the plane is fully visible as they walk to it on the tarmac and it has a very distinctive design), and it has already accumulated ... 1,420+ hours flight time. Marlene Dietrich is one of the passengers; Glynis Johns is a flight attendant.
Entertaining if you don't take it too seriously. I love any thrillers involving airplanes, ships, spacecraft.
7.5/10

I liked it, and an unusual subject for a movie.
