I would have loved to see John Carpenter's version which in the end never got made. Remake by just "them" doesn't interest me, so I'm voting NO.

I'm not fully opposed to it being remade at some point, but I don't want a remake for at least another 30 years. A superficial, action-oriented, CGI-fest would break my heart. I would like a character-driven remake that focuses more on drama and atmosphere than on action sequences. The original is nearly perfect. I would like a remake with a similar scene structure but with better dialogue and scripting.
With that said, I voted no because a remake today would be a disaster.

Yeah mate, than we can be sitting there as 60 or even 70+ old farts watching it and joke hey remember 30 years ago how upset u got when I said how lame I thought the original was. You will laugh and I would say no the original is a masterpiece compared to this CGI laden borefest. But who knows what new technique they will have by then.

Why a remake, when the original is iconic? It's not like they could go back to the source material, like Carpenter did with The Thing or Kaufman did with Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978. Creature from the Black Lagoon was an original in every regard. I can't imagine what a remake would bring to the table, outside of a hot new babe, some stud in control, and maybe tweaking the suit. But let's face it, that suit ROCKS!

But let's face it, that suit ROCKS! I think you are right. This would be a hard movie to remake. In a way, this is a movie that has already been made several times. If you stray from the original and do your own take on the concept, then it will just be like any other "creature feature," and if you remain too faithful to the original, then what's the point? Creature from the Black Lagoon doesn't have the name recognition needed to draw an audience of anyone who doesn't love the original. I say if you remake it, stay faithful to the original concept while tidying up the dialogue. Keep it about the divide between the need to make a profit in order to fund additional exploration vs. the concern that the need for profit might destroy the very thing you want to study.

From what I heard, it's back in development. They were looking at Scarlett Johansson to star.
