Johnny Depp starred in some interesting and entertaining horror-thrillers during the late 90s and into the 00s, where I believe his finest hour, where in 1999, with both Sleepy Hollow and The Ninth Gate, but From Hell and Secret Window, were not bad either.
From Hell was a bit too uneven, but liked the atmosphere and specially Ian Holm and his chilling performance.
Might have to go over it again, some day. But until then, I gave it a rating of:

I can’t remember it much at all, unfortunately, but I do remember thinking it far weaker than Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s brilliant and horrifying source material.
