Any fans of the Fair Warning album by Van Halen? How has it held up after 40 years?
My least favorite of the David Lee Roth albums, but it's still good. The album has some of Eddie Van Halen's most ferocious playing. The album is known for songs like Mean Streets, So This Is Love?, and Unchained.

Actually up with the first as my favorite DLR album. II and Woman & Children were weak, Diver Down had too much comedy. 1984 was good but not that good

There was a time when the original lineup of Van Halen was my favorite band, and I owned all their of their albums - except this one. I never bought "Fair Warning" because it had a bad reputation, although I had heard "Unchained" and liked it a lot. Hearing "Mean Street" and "So This Is Love?" just now for the first time, I have to be honest and say I'm not impressed. However, "Unchained" still kicks ass.
Their debut is my favorite VH album, and is the only one I rebought on CD.

My 2nd favorite after VH1. It’s dark. Eddie was pissed with Roth at this point. Great riffs.

I have to agree with the other folks here who think this is their best work, except for the debut.
I love all of the Roth era albums, but Fair Warning has always had a special place for me. This is definitely an "Eddie" album, full of darkness and crunch. You're still partying with the band, but in much darker places.

When asked, it's my go-to favorite VH album.
