Commissioner keeps saying that they are going to wait until the A’s and Rays are settled. But that could be another seven years. We basically know that the Rays are done in Tampa and the A’s will probably stay. Just expand already! The league would profit greatly, the schedules will be easier to plan and two new cities will have baseball! Las Vegas and Portland. Then the Rays can move to Montreal. A's are definitely staying. My firm is one of the firms working on the ballpark. They will be getting a new ballpark, i think the logistics are being worked but it's essentially set.

The league is diluted enough. If anything they should contract. Absolutely. And once they add more teams, that means they'll be adding yet more playoff spots. Soon literally half the league will make the playoffs. You'll have FOURTH place teams making it. It's ridiculous. MLB is so watered down in every aspect as it is. I think they should delete a couple teams.

They had a really slick design proposed a few years back with trees in the outfield. I hope they’re still planning on that one.

Portland is a great place with great people- riots aside. I’ve been down there numerous times. Really good microbreweries. And all the streets are Simpsons character names!Krusty Klown Kourt? That’s the one!

Like I said, the A's fans are fun. Anyone who would pay good money to sit in that toilet and watch a ballgame deserves a better ballpark. The team does too. Everyone dumps on the Athletics for not getting over the hump. But for all the negatives they have to deal with, a somewhat stingy owner, a ballpark that's literally a sewer that was ruined by a team that moved away and always being the ugly stepsister to the Giants, it's remarkable that this team doesn't lose 110 games a year. A real stadium could allow them to get quality free agents and keep the players they develop.

I agree, except with the stadium part in terms of that being that influential in terms of luring free agents. I mean, I'm sure it plays some part but at the end of the day, money talks. If the Rockies can convince Mike Hampton (and, really, any pitcher) to toss his career firmly into a Thai prison shithole, then the A's can certainly convince players to come play there. The owner is loaded, no reason why he can't pony up the cash to sign his corner infielders, stadium be dammed. Similar to Toronto. Players don't want to go there typically because they'll have to move their families to another country, deal with a different tax structure, so Toronto just pays them over-market to lure them. Easy peasy.

Easy peasy. If I was a batter, I would not want to go to Oakland. How many outs does a hitter have to deal with because of the vast foul territory? There are countries in Europe that have less territory that Oakland Coliseum. Like a pitcher going to Colorado, it's not a big selling point. And it would be a bigger lure to play in front of a full house instead of the tarped over upper deck in Oakland.

Easy peasy. That's not entirely true as the Jays dont pay over market for free agents but rather make competitive bids like the other clubs do.

MLB should expand if it needs money. It does not.
Rays move to Montreal, & let Oakland get their f'n house in order. More teams in this already pitching thin era would lead to 7 inning games across the board just to keep ratings.

Are the D-Backs struggling in Phoenix? Weren't they recently wanting to hold the city/region hijack for a new stadium?

Remember I said this: A's will be the first team in history to start the season 0-6 and win the World Series. Gonna happen.
