This is terrible casting. Neither one of them looks like who they're supposed to be portraying.
I think Pedro Pascal would make a good Desi Arnaz. Not sure who would make a good Lucy.

I don’t mind casting where someone doesn’t look EXACTLY like the person they are portraying as long as the actors capture the spirit of the character. Also, I prefer better acting.
For example, Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash. He embodied his spirit.
Sean Astin as Rudy
Michael Shannon as Elvis and Kevin Spacey as Nixon in “Elvis & Nixon”
So I’ll reserve judgment for when I see the film.

well Kidman can do comedy so why not?. That’s what I’m saying. It’s called acting. I don’t know why people are so obsessed with looks over substance. It’s rare that you get a Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln situation. Where he looked exactly like Abe and is one of the greatest actors of all time. There was once a story where Kurt Russell played Elvis in a biopic. It came down to Russell and a no name guy who looked like Elvis’ twin. The director chose Russell because he cared more about his acting over his look. |

I think Kate McKinnon would be a great Lucille Ball. She even mimicked Lucy's signature hairstyle in Ghostbusters (2016). Bardem looks way too beefy for Desi Arnaz.

Now, I actually believe Kate McKinnon is hilarious. She has the ability to be a huge comedian actress l, but gets the worst scripts for her abilities. That being said, it depends on if this is a serious drama about Lucy and Desi, of so she might not be able to pull of the dramatic scenes. |
