What do you think of it?
It's actually my favorite film that George Lucas has directed, which I know isn't saying very much, but still. It almost makes me wish he had done more non-Star Wars movies.

It's good. Alot funnier than I was expecting too. It's sort of a pre cursor to Linklater's 'Dazed and confused' and inspired loads of high school movies.

I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, it ushered in a period of wearisome early-60s nostalgia, which included Happy Days. That made the film come across as sappy. Lots of actors went on to big things: Richard Dreyfus, Cindy Williams, Harrison Ford, Suzanne Somers, Charles Martin Smith, Ron Howard, Mackenzie Phillips. Paul Le Mat was quite good, as was Bo Hopkins. Not sure how well known Wolfman Jack was outside the Southwest. I used to hear him on Armed Forces Radio.

I liked it quite a bit, my parents were HS graduates right about the time this was set so they could relate to it a lot. I obviously can't speak for his popularity in the early 60s, but by the 70s he was pretty well-known nationally. I'm from the Midwest and knew him well by the time I saw the movie.

I used to watch this movie all the time back in the early 90's. I love it. The cars, the music, and I like the Falfa/Milner rivalry in particular. While it was arguably supposed to be the most important storyline, I actually liked the Dreyfuss character "Curt" arc the least.

Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review:
American Graffiti (1973) - 3.5 out of 4 stars
"Highly entertaining, insightful mosaic about youngsters " coming of age " after high school graduation in 1962. Often hilarious, always on-target, this film made Dreyfuss a star and boosted many other careers. Re-edited to 112m. for 1978 reissue to play up latter-day stars. Look fast for Kay Lenz at a dance. Sequel: MORE AMERICAN GRAFFITI. Techniscope."

Very good film, helped immensely by its legendary soundtrack. Oddly, I've never owned a copy of it, & yet I'll still try to find it on a hot summer's night when I just wanna veg in the basement & not move any limbs. I like that it ends in the morning daylight. it's fun at 8pm, it's fun at 4am.

Wolfman Jack was known in western Canada. I recall him showing on tv now and then.
