He did have some decent at bats but, overall, I don't think that contract was a good thing

41 and putting up those numbers.
Heβs done. Next stop, Cooperstown.

41 and putting up those numbers. Heβs done. Next stop, Cooperstown. Someone will pick him up for a pinch hit AB down the stretch. he still has a bit of power (but a .198 BA). if he still wants to go out there. No real career milestone number to shoot for. 33 to get 700 Homers. That's not going to happen.
Sad, he was one of the best players of my lifetime, possibly the best 1b of all time. But he's going to be remembered for that monstrosity of a contract as mush as his numbers in St. Looie.

After he left, the Cardinals were still a very solid team. They may have won a few more if he had stayed. It didn't work out with the Angels. They never make the player even with Trout, Ohtani, etc. Would be nice if the Cardinals picks him up to finish his career at St. Louis.

As a Cards fan, I'm hoping like hell they bring him back here to finish his career. We could let Carpenter go to make room for him, and actually the .198 BA would be an upgrade from what we have now.

I'm not sure we would have won another if he had stayed, but those 3000+ hits, 667 HR and 2112 RBI with one franchise would have been a boon for both himself and the Cardinals. When's the last time someone even hit their 500th HR with their original team? Mike Schmidt? He could have been "The Cardinal", at least on the level of Musical and Gibson.

Isnβt he actually like 44? Rumored to be. That's why he fell in the 13th Round of the 1999 Draft, questions about his age. $60,000 signing bonus and one year in the minors and he was a fucking superstar. He was quite a bargain for St. Louis

O's will probably sign him so he can get a third Championship.

O's will probably sign him so he can get a third Championship. Yeah, he can bookend with Chris Davis as two of the most useless contracts in baseball.
Maybe they could trade for Miguel Cabrera and then collect the whole set!

I saw him play live, along with Trout, so that's a thing for me.
Maybe only Gehrig ahead of him at 1B yes?

He really should retire but I wouldn't mind my Jays picking him up as a DH.

Maybe only Gehrig ahead of him at 1B yes? Maybe. Pujols had better numbers, but played more games. And Lou had Babe Ruth hitting in front of him at the beginning and Joe DiMaggio at the end.

He really should retire but I wouldn't mind my Jays picking him up as a DH. No way Jose. The absolute last thing this club needs is an unathletic batter under the Mendoza line, & Pujols can't even run yes? They've enough young guys as it is struggling to break out even if they're 16-14 in 3rd place. This Jays team needs to simply get more balls in play, & sharpen up on defense. That should pave at least a path to the WC game. Besides, with Vladdy, Tellez, & all the outfielders, the DH spot is already crowded for playing time.
