Is that Ben Simmons shooting the gun?

Wow! I can't believe it when I saw the score today. When the 76ers' up by about 20 points or something in the 3rd quarter, I turned it off since I have to get up early today. I thought they had in the bag. Yes, they can win the last 2 games, but we got to take this Hawks team seriously. I thought Heretic was being facetious about the Hawks going to the final. I can see the path if they can close out 76ers and Nets plays hurt. First they got to close out this series.

I know you put in a lot of work hunting for then copy and pasting all these uplifting quotes from much wiser people. However, since they are all about persevering and triumphing when the odds are against someone and they are faced with what should be an unachievable goal the quotes apply to the Hawks. A top seed winning is simply doing what is expected of them. Anything else for example a top seed losing even a game much less a series to a team that most thought wouldn't even make the playoffs needs quotes about choking or being pathetic and lazy. Maybe your quotes were for Hawks fans. Was that your intention? To raise positive vibes in Hawks fans? It would be contrary to your usual smug snarky personality but I guess anything is possible. The Bruce Lee quote is especially apt. Hawks do fly and soar. Well chosen. I hope you enjoy your view from below.

And it was not a cupcake schedule....one of these games came to be known as "The Spanking of the Suns" where Atlanta won 135 to 103! Most had written the. Hawks off due to their horrendous start to the season, and that is understandable. The Nets are without Kyrie (probably for the next series too), Harden isn't 100%, and the Bucks seem to be disorganized, so the Hawks look destined. It will be interesting to see what they do with Ben Simmons. It's a catch 22...if he sits, then Trae Young shreds the defense....but if he plays, the Hawks just keep fouling him. He will probably play, as Doc Rivers wants to justify his large "investment". But, as an Atlanta sports fan, I know not to count my hawks before they hatch. Sixers could very well win this series in 7, and I will still be proud of my Hawks who weren't even expected by the "experts" to be even this far. Plus, their team is young. We have the dynasty that the Sixers thought they had.

At this point, it is not gravy anymore. When my Knicks made their run in 1999, everything was gravy when they got past the #1 seed Heat, as a #8 seed. Once they got to the ECF, we felt we need to go all the way. We had a chance if Larry Johnson didn't get hurt for the Final.

We have the dynasty that the Sixers thought they had. Maybe I'm being naive but I really thought Doc Rivers would end up back in Atlanta as head coach eventually. It could still happen but if Philly chokes again with their team full of superstars and the Hawks continue to win with one eliteish guy that is very iffy on defense Doc's value will tumble and Nate will have locked down a full time job as Hawks head coach. I think Nate deserves the job regardless considering how he's turned Atlanta around in such a short time.

We had a chance if Larry Johnson didn't get hurt for the Final. I was a Hawks fan when LeBron swept us in the Conference finals even though we had the best record in the NBA. I was a Hawks fan during the Dominique Wilkins years. I have literally waited over 30 years for this, and this is the first team I have ever seen that I think can not only make it to the finals, but win it. To say that I believe is an understatement. After all, I did put myself out there and say Hawks over Suns before the playoffs started, and for years have believed in the very young Trae Young. After the mediocre Lloyd Pierce's coaching, I was disappointed. I had Hawks making playoffs last season as a 7th seed, and it obviously didn't happen. This year, same crap, but then we got McMillan as coach and he set the ship right. And to prove I'm not a complete Homer, I consider Cam Reddish a bust. We got him as part of the Trae for Luca deal, and while he didn't play a lot this year, he was a top 10 pick and isn't even as good as Heurter who is also from the same class. I want to be clear....I am not denying Luca's talent...I just thought at the time and now that Trae was better...an opinion even most Hawks'fans didn't have at the time.

I think Nate deserves the job regardless considering how he's turned Atlanta around in such a short time. I hope Doc Rivers stays the hell away from Atlanta. Nate McMillan is amazing. Just look at his record vs Lloyd Pierce's who got fired mid-season with the same team. I actually believe that McMillan was hired as assistant coach to replace Pierce. Either way, last night was by far the worst coached game of basketball that I have ever seen. If you know the Hawks are just going to foul Ben Simmons, then why have floor spreaders on the court? Why not go all out on rebounders when he inevitably misses free throws? Makes no sense. But as a Hawks fan, I am happy. I hope they play Ben Simmons every minute.

And if not - it's Hurtsy/Sirianni time! I can't wait for the season to start - we're going to surprise a lot of people
With the addition of DeVonta - it's going to allow Reagor to soar!
People act as if Reagor was a bust which was certainly not the case at all
The obvious pick was Justin Jefferson at the time; and JJ soared as we all figured he would - but there was misplaced anger towards Jalen just because Jefferson thrived
Can't wait to see the offense - just worried about the O-Line since it's getting up there in age and has had major injury issues all up and down the line
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!
