Fuel savings would be about £25 a year tops. I think my brother was paying around £200 a year for the AA. It's not that dear. If you don't get AA cover, don't come crying on here after you've broken down on the M8, and its cost you £500 to get towed. Nah, I’m not doing it. So there!

£158 for a car battery! That's what I had to pay today when my old one gave up the ghost! Add £97 for someone to come and give my old one a jump start. And while I was waiting for him to arrive some kahnt reversed into me and caused £442 worth of damage. Heute ist nicht mein tag! So, what, you now have two batteries?

No, the jump start just gave me enough to go for a thirty minute drive and then take it to a garage to get the battery tested. If I’d gone straight away it may have given me a false negative. Alas, it was a negative anyway so I had to get a new battery. Garage (well it was actually a Tyre City) got rid of my old one for me .. buggers actually added something to the bill for disposal costs.

Join the AA, worth it for peace of mind. Nah, their subscription premiums have rocketed . I pay about the equivalent of £2 a week for pretty much everything. Still good value.
