Wow, one of those miracle-drug foods. I wish that I liked it more than I do ... although, I don't have a strong dislike for it. And, I do like it with Canadian Bacon, on a pizza.
I once spent a week in a colleague's timeshare, in a small town on Oahu. I cooked in the apartment, and most groceries were quite expensive. I figured that was because so many things have to be flown/shipped in. It occurred to me that, if that was the reason, pineapple should be pretty affordable. I was right, and ate quite a bit of it. It was OK. Maybe, I'll try to work it into the diet.

I love pineapple. I don't buy it very often, mostly due to lazyness - it's a pain in the ass to peel it (not sure if that's the right word for it, in the case of pineapples).

I've never purchased a whole one. When I was in Makaha, I bought containers of fresh-cut.
The way I've seen it done, in videos, is to use a knife to cut the "prickly" sides away, and cut across the top. Then, there is a cylindrical tool that is used to cut down, through the core.
I've seen the fresh pieces for sale, here. I'll probably try those. Most canned fruit has sugary syrup added, and I don't care for that.

I love fresh pineapple but hated to have to slice off the outer part to get to the good stuff. Then I saw this video.... link (there's a ad first)

Thank you, Sunshine. I would never have dreamed that it would be that easy to "pick" pieces of a pineapple.
It's only recently, that I learned that the best way to take the core out of a head of lettuce, is to SLAM it on the counter, then simply pull it out of the rest of the head.
Mother Nature works wonders.

One of my favorite summer treats. From my bartending days, I can carve those things up pretty quickly and they're high up on my list of favorite things to grill. Hell yeah, give me nature's bounty!

Bought one a few weeks ago. Let it get overripe. I have leftover in the fridge but it's only getting riper.
Weird thing for me is it makes everything I eat after it taste bad, even water.

It benefits me in the form of a Pina Colada.

Love pineapple! Fresh, not canned. Once got a whole cut up pineapple as a gag birthday gift at work. yum.

Thank God, I love Pineapple Upside Down Cake... With extra crushed pineapple added to it.
