Saw it yesterday, it's.... okay, a bit generic and tropey, if you want answers from questions in Prometheus, you will be disappointed, if you want an Alien film that brings something new and exciting to the franchise... you will be disappointed, if you want a sci-fi horror flick with death and gore, you'll probably be satisfied.
It's a shame though, I'm seeing quite a few Alien fans online frustrated with the direction the franchise is going in now, Scott seems to be just throwing stuff together from all over the place and hoping something sticks. And following Prometheus big scale and ambition, you have to wonder where the invention from the series went. 6/10.

Most seem to feel it's a step up from Prometheus (and a damn sight better than the films from 1992-2007) but clearly no match for the first two.

Yeah, I was hoping The Martian had gotten Scott back on track, but apparently not.

Another monster on the ship movie. Haven't seen it and yet, I have. Well this is the movie franchise that invented the formula, as far as SF/horror goes. Anything is better than Prometheus, but I think Hollywood's go-to writers for science fiction are all shit. This has been true for a long time. You'd think Hollywood would start mining books, GOOD books like Iain M. Banks' stuff or Alastair Reynolds' work, not lukewarm bullshit like The Expanse.

I love Prometheus, and I hoped to learn more about the engineers who interest about 10,000 times more than a further variety of the alien monster. And since it has become a monster movie again I'd rather go for Alien vs. Predator III. Why watching a movie in which humans get slaugtered still some stupid plot holes let some them win or escape. The worst case has become reality.
